    Snowblower PTO shaft alignment

My IH-80 shaft looks similar to yours. (On mine) there is a key under that set screw. Mine also has a cross bolt going through the shaft and the pto shaft, so I need to take out that bolt, then back off the set screw, then pull the pto shaft off. Yours is even rustier than mine, so it might...

Do You Buy Your Grease From Your Kubota Dealer ?

That's my plan here also. Open station tractor is "snow moving only" once it gets to be winter. Most of the greases had "operating" temps of 0 F and I was wondering if that was a concern. Since the local places stock NGLI #2 I'm assuming it isn't, and I mainly use a snowblower (not the...

    Kingkutter tiller gear box question

I couldn't really gauge the consistency--I could see it but didn't fish any out to squeeze it. It didn't look all that thick, but did have chunks adhering to the gears. Not sure that I've ever actually seen cornhead grease but it seemed a little thicker than I imagine that. There were big...

    Kingkutter tiller gear box question

The owners manual says that they ship greased, but you should half fill with gear oil. 80-90 or 85-140. The one on the side has a small (1/4"?) plug to check the level. You are just supposed to eyeball the top gearbox and fill it halfway w/ gear oil also.

small garden -- rip then till? (what's a ripper, subsoiler, middle-buster, etc?)

Thanks all. I should probably get the soil tested, but for now it's beautiful and black and stuff grows really well. At least a (different) third is unused (goes to grass) on any given year, and I rotate the beans around when I can remember where I had them last year. I mainly wanted to till to...

    New blower

What brand are the blowers? Depending on how this year goes I'll probably be looking for a 6-footer for next year. I love my hydraulic spout though--how do you turn the crank from within the cab? For that price I'd be interested in the cab idea also. I love the open station in the summer, but...

Do You Buy Your Grease From Your Kubota Dealer ?

Does anybody have a reccomendation for lower temperature moly grease for the loader pins? All I'm seeing in the lithium based Moly goes down to 0 degrees F (found on NLGI 1 that goes to -4 F). It that all the colder the lithium can do? It has lithium in in now (but probably not moly).

small garden -- rip then till? (what's a ripper, subsoiler, middle-buster, etc?)

It's very rich soil, and normally pretty easy to dig. From digging deep close by I'd expect 18 inches of rich, black, top soil on top of (light brown) almost sand. It's been pasture for at least 20 years, and probably forever, so there is some "sod" to cut through. It may be getting close to...

small garden -- rip then till? (what's a ripper, subsoiler, middle-buster, etc?)

I have about 1600 sq. feet blocked off with panels. Less than half of that has been used the past few years. Last year wife didn't want a garden, but later said she wanted some tomatoes, eggplant, and peppers (?) so I maybe used about 1/3 or less. I am expanding some asparagus and...

small garden -- rip then till? (what's a ripper, subsoiler, middle-buster, etc?)

I have a small garden, and wondering how to use my new small tractor to help with annual prep and expansion. In the past I've tried to use a cultivator or box-blade rippers so that I could use a walk-behind tiller on new pasture and just used a shovel and a tiller on last years garden. I no...

Has anyone used the product "sticktion elimanator.

    1) I didn't say that, and 2) I'm pretty sure the guy that said it was being extremely sarcastic Edit to add: I now see that guy was you. "Never mind" Not a fan in my older vehicles. The new car (2006) gets it, but the stuff from last century does not play well with E-10 (I should say "my"...

    B2650 ballast box

I like lots of the ideas here. I'm somewhat frugal, so I'd make one more like his. When I had a bigger tractor there was always something on the back (PITA to swap, and not a nimble tractor either way, so why bother). I'm thinking I might need some weight back there with the Kubota. Something...

    BX Ballast Box

Do you move the lift rods and attach them there? It doesn't look like much angle if you chain to there. If you do move the lift rods, what hold it up while you move them? I assume you want them both connected all the time.

Has anyone used the product "sticktion elimanator.

What oils do you guys like. I'm normally a Castrol fan, but I see a lot of Rotella going into diesels? Also not a snake-oil believer, but Seafoam in the gas tank of a gas vehicle has impressed me.

    Operator presence issues?

It was in gear, and must be tied to the HST pedal. So long as i didn't touch the pedal it was fine. I did (later) look in the manual, it it is an intentional feature. I'm ok with that, until it breaks, but it drove home the fact that this is more like a giant lawnmower than my older tractors. I...

    Operator presence issues?

The seat switch caused me some issues also. I had a leaky valve stem and was trying to park it with the valve stem up high until the next day. Every time I leaned over to look at the valve stem the thing almost died. I was very frustrated with my "new" tractor until I got that figured out...
