Another Third Function Question, want to add to L5740

Thanks D2Cat. I did find some of your old threads on this-very helpful. I have the same concerns, especially with the loaded tire. I need the tractor to move snow in the winter but could afford to take it apart for a few days in the summer. I was thinking to get most of the parts in hand sooner...

Another Third Function Question, want to add to L5740

How can I figure out if my curl has regen and how bad that would be? Our local shortline dealer now does Kubota so I stopped in to ask them what was up. They quoted 6 hours labor ($1000 for labor alone) and can't even guess at what the parts will cost due or a kubota parts blackout/IT upgrade...

Another Third Function Question, want to add to L5740

I did check with summit. They don't have a kit specific to this tractor, but said their universal kit was a perfect match. They also said to check youtube for installation instructions, so I'm glad I have you guys. (Merry Christmas, BTW). If I need to take the wheel off that would move it...

Another Third Function Question, want to add to L5740

Well then, it's unanimous! I'll give them a call and hopefully they can tell me what I need and then sell it to me. Thanks, Bob

Another Third Function Question, want to add to L5740

Hi All, I see this has been discussed the the "best" kit seems to change as time goes by, and many of the links from the 2018 and 2020 threads are broken. I have an open-station L5740 (with the LA 854 Loader). I currently have a grapple, using the rear remotes to close/open the grapple. This...

    Broken Oil Drain Plug

While these are not the tool for THIS job, having a good set on hand is a good idea. I also like to keep some left-handed drill bits around to use before (and if the extremely lucky, instead of) the EZ-outs. Obviously, if it's already spinning you don't need an ez-out.

    l3560hst loader counter weight

I did something similar to GrizBota's approach, only my goal was to put more (70%) of the weight on the rear wheels. I carry IBC totes full of green firewood across sometimes bumpy ground and don't want to destroy my front axle. This gave me numbers closer to what NorthIdahoWolfman came up...

Warm up time in Winter vs. Summer

My manual implies that this extra time is to warm up the (hydrostatic) transmission fluid: It does say to operate at 50% of rpm until the time passes. I try not to lift anything heavy or rev it too high during that time (but move around to hitch up an implement, for example. With my gear...

    !5-40 Rotella oil

Not worried. I should have said that it was "less of a concern for me" due to my typical usage. If somebody needed to worry about such issues, is ain't me.

    !5-40 Rotella oil

Thanks for the report. This is what I was guessing but it's good to hear from the trenches. I'm not as worried about sheering at higher temps as some. As an acreage owner (vs a real farmer) I don't really push my equipment for long periods during the summer. Mowing pasture once a year is...

    !5-40 Rotella oil

We do see -30 here, but I hope to never have to run the open station tractor below -10. Kubota says 10W-xx below freezing. We're well below that so I'm looking forward to seeing how the 5W-40 works (well, not looking forward to the testing at temp, but looking forward to finding out)...

    !5-40 Rotella oil

I hate to say it, but maybe Wally knows best? Or at least what sells where? The 5-40 was on the shelves at the Wally World here. There was at least as much 15-40, but the 5-40 was available. Mine calls for 10W-30 but I don't even know if 5W was a (common) thing when they built it 12 or so...

    !5-40 Rotella oil

I live in a colder winter climate and I'm trying Rotella T6 5W40 this year. Haven't had it in during winter yet, but nothing seemed to change using it over the summer. I do not work my tractor nearly as hard as many do.

    Used l3301 thoughts/input

I lived nearby in a previous life. When Georgia Ave was a quiet back-road and a halfway decent motorcycle route. I drove by the "capital for a day" sign hundreds of times. Also worked with a bunch of yuppies who pretended to be hippies and liked to eat lunch at the Olney Alehouse. I don't...

Has this been purchased, or is it a test drive/demo situation? Brookeville MD? Once our nation's capital? Rotella 15-40 is probably fine in that case. I use 5-sumfin now that I'm up north.

    Side shift flail won't shift?

Are you saying you sell couplers? I can attest to the quality of your hooks!

    Side shift flail won't shift?

it would move if I cracked the other banjo bolt, so it was getting fluid (both ways). I got frustrated and stole the couplers of of my grapple. Worked like a charm.

    Side shift flail won't shift?

Thanks all. Problem solved the quick connects themselves were somehow defective. They could push fluid, but not return the fluid. They were brand new from Summit. Thanks everybody for the suggestions. Any suggestions on where I can get decent couplers? Thanks again,

    Side shift flail won't shift?

Yes, off of the ground. Once my head hit the pillow I thought maybe I should bleed it? Crack one banjo bolt and push fluid out that end, then repeat for the other? I think I’ll try that after church today. It seems like a well built unit-Im hoping it’s something simple. Thanks,

    Side shift flail won't shift?

Problem Solved: Not Woodmaxx's fault. This seems to be a quality mower ust put together a brand new Woodmax "Hydraulic shift" flail mower. When I try to shift it with the hydraulics it sometimes twitches/jerks but doesn't move significantly. I will call them on on Monday and ask how to...
