    l2501 owners opinions please

Yep-- took pictures of the Farmall Super C leaving down the road, but loving the HST where less pressure on the treadle means MORE OOMPH to pull out the scrub bushes....

    L3200 Tachometer/hour meter not working

Jim... looks like your filter/oil got changed on 8/29.. My gray filter was still on when my tach twisted off... now I have a white one with 2/22 on mine.. I guess great minds think alike;)

    L3200 Tachometer/hour meter not working

Not sure if your engine is the same, but location should be close.. the cable loops in directly above the oil filter close to the front of the engine on mine..

    L3200 Tachometer/hour meter not working

On my L2501 the tach cable was broken about an inch above the right angle drive coming out of the right front on the D1703 motor. I clipped off the zip tie to allow the cable to bow out in a smoother arc.

    Differential lock question

Good Point-- much easier just to raise the mower deck and roll through, then return the 3 Pt to the preset stop where I was running. :o Here in the arid west, the only time I really need a little extra traction, the front drive engage lever is probably best... especially for loader work

    Differential lock question

Every tractor is different.... for the HST with hand throttle and treadle I need to remember to rock back to neutral on the treadle, and even pull back the cruise lever if I have it engaged. Used to be a little more intuitive with just tapping the individual brake pedal on the old Farmall...

    sidecarflip

Today, I'll start walking my dog, a short trip 2 times, everyday extending the distance gradually until I get up to 2 miles daily. Being only 69, I have some good years left.... I hope. Good to hear, Flip! I'm sure with your gumption and good attitude you will make a good recovery! Two...

How do you deal with snow?

The weatherman said 4-7 inches....got about 2 which the sun cleared the drive for me yesterday. Even at 20 degrees temperature, the Sun angle is high enough now that it works pretty well... I just wish that the moisture count would be better as our seasonal total is only 11 inches, about half...

How well does the L2501 steer with a load on the loader?

I dont do a lot of loader work, but have maxed out the LA525 loader lifting some concrete chunks to deposit as riprap along a gully. Didnt notice a steering issue but was mainly trying to keep the load low and slow... If you want to do a lot of loading/cleaning out of pens, a little skidsteer...

-15 and started right up / NIW complaint thread

As one who enjoys the conversation I dont have a local coffee "klatch", but this forum is my favorite to listen in while enjoying my cup or two in the morning. The rendering wagon pickup was fine as I wasn't eating my toast at the time:D Thanks to all who contribute just like at the...

    Using glow plugs.

I guess we dont have the glow plug time indicators on our L2501s that some do. Even still, I rock the switch to the left to glow for a slow count of 1-2-3 and then starts right off. Below freezing I might get a puff of gray smoke at the start, but smoothes right out. We haven't had hardly...

    Cooking with Kubota

Hmm havent checked out the manifold that well on the Kubota, but the Camry sure has a nice shelf over the manifold to warm up the burritos & hot pockets; Wrap in foil and 10 to 15 minutes per side pull over to the exit to serve... just don't forget:confused:

    Your Lane Muddy?

Impressive load of pulpwood. I cringe to think of my little L2501 ever trying to negotiate the ruts left behind, but then it would never be out there haha.. Also how many seals that have to have integrity to keep operating in that environment,,WOW

    Differential lever question

" When using the differential lock, always slow the engine down. To prevent damage to power train, do not engage differential lock when one wheel is spinning and the other is completely stopped." I know I read this but its hard for this old dog to apply this advise in the heat of the moment...

    Engine Oil

Lots of different opinions which is what keeps the oil threads going:) Shell added the JASO MA2 rating specs to cover the T6 use on wet clutches as well as suitable for engines with CAT converters. Lots of Hondas and now CanAms running Rotella T6....I do like that I am down to two main oils...

    Engine Oil

Throw a vote on the pile for T6 5w40 here in Colorado. That and a Kubota filter from the dealer and I'm good to go.... if I was warmer or ran my little L2501 longer and harder I might opt for the 15w40, but when I catch the 2.5 gal jugs on sale, I have some left for the motorcycles:):D

    Fuel consumption

My 2501 HST just turned 50 hours although I did the filter changes and engine oil changes early. Fuel usage has been really good, but havent checked it lately. Right now the gauge says below half, and when I checked the tank visually, its just below the ledge, so probably have about 3 gals...

    Implement Attaching Tips?

Yes the rotary cutter is the heaviest, I drop it off on a 4" wooden sill so its easier to scoot with the pry bar at the ready. I like the idea of bricks to mark the rear wheels. Once I got the bottom links adjusted to width, its a lot easier now with an oil can at the ready to lather up...

    little chunks of wood

    L2501 Tach Quit

Thats about it,,, if I remember just those 2 on each side and the dash bolt or two. I think one was below boot on the panel. Then there was enough room to slide the cowling up, and either get to the back of the desplay, or to loosen the display cluster machine screws to get a pair of needle...
