    a simple trailer build

No total yet, I'll probably figure it up tomorrow. The steel will easy, and I've logged all the little stuff, tires, fenders, lights, breakaway chains etc., but it's looking good. Got it flipped over one last time, down side up, for paint. The next time it gets flipped over right side up, it'll...

    a simple trailer build

I found some steel diamond plate rolled fenders, locally, so no waiting for them! Strong enough to walk on while still not too heavy. Plenty heavy enough for the very rare tire incident, sounds like a manufacturer defect greenacres, either that or severely underinflated, whatever, point taken...

    a simple trailer build

The lights will be off on the sides, behind the fenders/protected by the fenders. About 1' ahead of the rear, with some small additional clearance lights between the beaver tail. I'll post this picture for entertainment; first time out of the shop, and I got side tracked by changing my only...

    a simple trailer build

I have the axles welded on, carefully triangulated to the hitch, it should only take up one lane as I tow it down the highway, the same one my pickup is using hopefully! I set the first one, and then after determining the proper distance for the second/trailing one (quite close, only a couple...

    a simple trailer build

Got the tires (radial, trailer specific) and wheels, all mounted up. Got the frame dead nuts level in all directions, and squared up. Well, almost square, it's 1/16" out corner to corner. Simple as can be so far. I know the weight of the steel used, and I am weighing the misc. parts and keeping...

    a simple trailer build

My old single axle utility trailer, again, nothing there that isn't needed! The new bigger tandem one will look quite similiar, it shows what I mean by "an open deck." It's so light it's real handy to wheel barrow around by hand, heck I even pull it with the Prius. Today I used my older Rav4 to...

    a simple trailer build

I had that thought also, I may stick to chains and binders. I will be modeling the frame after my 10K dump trailer, which does have a V tongue, but a mix of 6 and 5 " channel, this one will be all 5". By open deck I mean no sideboards and no flooring. Just enough angle iron every foot (and only...

    a simple trailer build

For the L3301, and also the U 25 mini X (one at a time.) I currently use my 12' dump bed trailer, and it works after a fashion, but living on a mountain with 1200' of fall I have to go up and down, I don't like packing the extra weight of the double dump bed etc., plus the higher center of...

I think I work too cheap.

I deal with this subject all the time in my crane service business. You can be the best or you can be the cheapest. I've learned to let it roll off my back when I lose out on a job because of my lesser equipped competitors getting the work because they are cheaper per hour. NOT cheaper overall...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

What I DIDN'T do on my tractor the last couple days is work on my 1/4 mile trail through the quakies, it's totally finished. The wood chips make a great walking or fat tire bike surface, like walking on a plush carpet. This was a pretty huge project and I got obsessed with wrapping it up before...

Trailer for the U 25s mini excavator

The literature seems to say 5600 lbs., though when I picked it with my crane it's load indicator said 6 K +. I'm right at gross, more or less, but not over the trailer's carrying capacity, (being a dump bed with sides, it's a lot heavier then any purpose built one I'd build, what I really want...

Trailer for the U 25s mini excavator

Keeping in mind I already have this 12' 10K GVW dump bed trailer, here is what I have come up with for the occasional move. Unless I get into commer cial work with lots of moves on a weekly basis, this would seem to get the job done. My other alternative is to make a custom hauler, maybe with a...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

A while back on this thread, some one posted about WAXING their tractor, (not that their is anything wrong with that.....) I'm assuming it wasn't you?! Tractors are meant to get dirty, it's what they are for, looks good!

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

After blocking up the front tires (dead level side to side, checked) and shimming the forks with some pallets, I had just barely enough reach to set my shop's new swamp cooler. After I took this pic I unstrapped it from the pallets, c limbed up and simply slid it into place, only 250 lbs. Looks...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Mowed around the house, field grasses NOT a lawn.....for the first time with the side shift flail mower. It cut the 24" high volunteer alfafa just fine. BUT, I am really missing the ability to mow while backing up! I have a lot of stuff to mow around and not being able to cut while backing up...

    Kubota colored straps?

I first heard about these straps (bungees, somewhere in between I guess) from a pilot friend and bought a few. Since then they have become my go to solution for securing things to things. You can use them with heavy gloves on, you can join them together to make any length needed, they are UV...

    Air compressor for tractor

Check with AW Direct for a high end 12 VDC compressor, high end meaning one that won't burn out immediately. They are a supplier for the towing industry. One advantage to going this route would be you could use it on your other rigs, boats, whatever, plus not tying up your PTO.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I am wrapping up the last of my 1/4 mile+ trail building project. Manuvering the L3301, on the sloped trail barely 5' wide, with the chipper on the rear and the 4' forks on the front, in the tight confines, has been "interesting". So far so good, as in no bent metal! Here goes the last of the...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Greenworks, a house brand of Lowes I think maybe? They now offer 80 volt models, and also 40 volt, the 60's were phased out. Besides not yanking on a rope to start it, when doing sporadic cutting like I do, there is zero time spent idling. How many times do you shut a gasser off thinking you're...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Good eyes! The cool thing about that rig is I bought it from a family owned Wisconsin metal fab shop, who does stainless work in dairys and food plants. They bought the truck and crane brand new, then did their own mounting, and then took it to be certified. The side rails and the under bed...
