    Replacing head gasket best practices

Wolfman, ToolJunkie, thanks for the good advice. The little orange machines have worked so well that I have never had to open one up!

    Replacing head gasket best practices

Requesting your thoughts on replacing head gaskets. My machine an L3800, slight pressure build in radiator, no coolant in oil, or oil in coolant. I'm thinking a small leak in head gasket. Looked at bubbles in radiator but frothes and can't really tell. I have the WSM and parts manual...

91 L2350 dt keeps blowing regulator fuse

Howdy! First thing that comes to mind is that it is a wiring problem. I would check the harness wiring for nicks or shorting. Ground connections for good continuity. Since the fuse is blowing, there could be a chance that the short is within the generator/regulator. I would check those for...

    Starting Issue Help Needed

Sounds like a back to basics. I would check the electrical connections for good contact. You may have hidden corrosion or fouling. Even though a new battery, I'd take it in and get it load tested. Should be free. New batteries should be slow charged at time of installation. A full charge will...

    2013 L3800 won't start!

Pictures of switches. Clutch switch below fuse panel, below connector. HST switch: Look at 40A in picture center, move right to plastic case, move right to vertical wall. Switch is mounted on flange.

    AVR6500-B runs but no output

You want to isolate the two stator main windings. So the 4 wires going to the stator are the ones you want. One test lead to each stator wire in turn. The other test lead to ground. You're checking to see if either stator winding is shorting to ground - if it is that's a problem. Same with the...

Possibly a job for a block tester to look for exhaust gas in the coolant?

    2013 L3800 won't start!

L3800HST: Clutch switch is above the pedal and below the fuse panel. HST pedal switch is on right side by your foot. The mechanism is under the foot plate, the switch itself above the foot plate. If water froze, it may have pushed the switch assy up in its rectangular holder. The switch will...

    Compression in the radiator )Help

Yeah, the reason is that water is more thermally conductive than ethylene glycol. I found this out in a hot Texas summer. Undersized radiator not quite dumping enough heat. Added water in summer, and drained and added more antifreeze in winter. Kept doing that until it got sold.

    AVR6500-B runs but no output

I don't have any docs for your particular gen. Best I can do is walk-thru for a generic gen. The output frequency needs to be checked. If you don't have a meter, then check at the big box stores for a "KILLAWatt" which will plug into a standard 120VAC receptacle and read out Hz. Idle freq...

    AVR6500-B runs but no output

This is a tractor forum, but what the heck. Does the generator have brushes or does it use a capacitor? Check the circuit breakers with a VOM. Gen not running of course. Next ohm from neutral in a receptacle to its hot. Do this with gen off. Take the leads on the VOM, put one in the...

    Alternative regulator?

If you can find an automotive external voltage regulator, at the price you want, that would be a better option. The solar panel charger will work. If you do not use the tractor often, then it will be an option. When you add your regulator, it will be easier to maintain if you add a connector...

    Alternative regulator?

When you test the alternator, try to see if it is the windings, rectifiers, or regulator. If it is the rectifiers or regulator, see if the markings are still visible. These parts may be cross-referenced to a replacement. Kubota buys these on the open market, so they do not have to be "Kubota."...

    Brake Light Switch Question

My L3800 has brake lights. On the back, on each rear side, assy has red lens and amber lens. Also the plunger type switch for the brake pedal. You could try depressing the switch with your finger to see if the play is set correctly. Otherwise jumper the switch with a piece of wire to check it.

water in diesel fuel - M5400DT

Think I would drain fuel tank and get out any water that may be on bottom. Then refill bowl with dry fuel. Fill tank with fuel and additive for water. Then try to start. Check the fuel cap and collar as it is likely that is where water is coming in. Also follow Wolfman's advice to keep tank...

    Kubota B-3030

I would also check the belt. Check to see if amps are actually going into the battery when charging. Would also check to see if battery is discharging when tractor is off. Am assuming that the battery is correctly sized for cold starting amps.
