Ground speed as a function of gear number and engine speed-M4500

I contacted the local dealer 's service manager and he agrees with NIWM. He says it is at 540 pto speed which in the case of the M4500 is 2193 rpm.

    Tractor running hot

Have you checked the air side of the radiator? It gets plugged with dust and chaff and that reduces the cooling air flow through the fins. Also a stuck closed thermostat, loose water pump drive belt, bad pressure cap, collapsed water pump intake hose, leaking head gasket, etc can be the...

Ground speed as a function of gear number and engine speed-M4500

We have a 2wd M4500 that I use to spray with. I'm trying to keep my ground speed at 4mph to spray 10 g/ac. I have a wonderful chart on my tractor fender and also one in the operators manual that lists ground speed as a function of gear number. Unfortunately, they do not give the engine rpm that...

    Thoughts on This Rock Bucket?

I have a rock bucket that has 3 inches tine spacing and I wish it was smaller. This one has 4 inch time spacing. Is that going to meet your needs?

    Corrosion in Fuel Tanks

Condensation in fuel tanks is unavoidable but can be markedly reduced by trying to keep the tank full. Treating the fuel with an additive that contains a biocide will help preclude the sludge formation caused by bacteria living in the fuel/water interface in the tank. Condensation problems are...

    m4000

That's what I was talking about-the engine oil filter. They are generally have a lot thinner case than a canister type filter. On our M4500, we have a cleanable hydraulic filter but the engine oil filter is a spin on. You made reference to a cleanable filter and I wondered if the manual was...

    m4000

I would check with your nearest Kubota dealer or call Messick's. I have a '78 M4500 with the S2600 engine and my filter is a spin on. I would strongly recommend an adapter (if available) to convert to a spin on UNLESS you are going to work in the woods a lot. A spin on can get punctured by...

    Problems with Forum.

I logged in and made a submission on the service and repair Forum. When I submitted the reply, the log in page showed up and I lost my reply. I redid the response and it happened a second time. My response when off into the great cosmic void. This has happened before but never twice in a row...

Fuel sediment bowl not staying full

Start at the tank and make sure you have good fuel flow all the way to the injector pump. I think you have an blockage somewhere.

    Hay fields

We got another three inches of very wet snow yesterday and our fields are still covered with the white stuff. Our long range forecast calls for a wet early spring and a dry April and May so it looks like early start to the irrigation season and maybe haying in early June rather than late June...

    Hours on a engine?

A lot of John Deere's, Ford's, Internationals, Case's in heavy tillage use go 6-7000 hrs before they need an overhaul. Some go even longer. Maintained per the manufactures instructions and not abused, I don't see why a Kubota would be any different. A lot of subcompact tractor users don't use...

    Hydraulic Cap popping off

+1. The hydraulic reservoir must have a vent and yours is plugged. Look for a hole in the cap. It may be plugged.

    M4500 PTO Shaft Cover?

Thanks Wolfman. I'll check it out.

    M4500 PTO Shaft Cover?

Does anybody know if the M 4500 has a pto cap to cover the exposed pto shaft? I could not find such an animal in the parts manual but it's hard to believe that all our other tractors have them and the M4500 doesn't.

    Hydraulic Oil Filter is Stuck

Why can't you use a regular oil filter wrench, the type with a metal band? if you install it next to the top of the filter, it has less chance of crushing the case. Our 7.3L Powerstroke runs at 80+ psig oil pressure and it has to be on really tight so it doesn't leak. I have to use the filter...

Broken Brush Hog Drive Line U-Joint

looks like the cross in the U-joint failed. The knuckles look pretty heavy duty so if they aren't damaged, you just need to get a new cross/bearing assembly and install it. Don't forget to phase the joints correctly when you re-install the shaft.
