FIMCO 40 Gallon Sprayer vs 9 acres of fescue

I Folks, I have a FIMCO 40 gallon sprayer which came with my tractor purchase ( L3130 ). I want to kill off a 9 acre field with glyphosate for winter planting of a pollinator mix. Do you think this sprayer ( and my novice skill set ) is up for the job? I'd like to do it myself and think...

    Field Borders?

It's common practice in these parts to have an occasionally mowed boarder around a field thats are not row crop. You do make a good point. Why? My immediate thoughts: Provide a travel corridor for me Allow fence line maintenance Keep invasive species from entering the field You do have me...

    Field Borders?

The pollinator mix will have 35 different forbes and grasses. It's a mandated recipe for my part of the country. I have a 3-4 places from it can be purchased. I have the option of drilling or broadcasting it but it must go in between Nov, 15 and March 15. My current concern is taking out...

    Field Borders?

Thanks Folks, I have a tree / brush infested fence on all 4 sides. Two will need to stay for now but the other two on the interior of my property are candidates for removal. That’s if I get the motivation. it’s going to get a dose or two of Glyphosate this fall and I’m wondering if I should...

    Field Borders?

Hi Folks, I'm rehabbing an overgrown piece of property. I've spent much of the past year beating back brush & overgrowth. I have a 10 acre hay field which will be put into pollinator habitat this winter. I wondering what a good fence to field border would be? I have a 60" rotary mower...

    PTO HP - Finish Mower

If I have it right, my L3130 has 25 hp at the PTO drive. A nice 72” finish mower is for sale at a decent price locally but the sales brochure I looked up suggest 35 PTO hp. I’d like to think my tractor can handle a 6’ mower. Am just missing something here?

    Soffit Mystery

The soffits have no vents. The only roof vents are 4 12” square vents. There is only one gable in the front. No vent When I poked my head up to take a look in the attic, it was 130+ in there. I’m thinking a vent fan may be in order.

    Soffit Mystery

The house was built in 1960. The soffit doors appear to be tacked in pretty well. Not easily removed. On the roof we have two 12X12” vents. The roof insulation is a combo of batts and blown in.

    Soffit Mystery

It’s covered in a layer of insulation but it appears that the attic goes all the way out to the end of the roof line.

    Soffit Mystery

Hi Folks. This is off topic but I’m betting someone can answer this question. I’m at my Son’s home in Denver and there are what looks to be access panels in the soffit all around the house. It doesn’t make sense to me. Anyone know why these were cut in?

    Missouri Driveway Project - Progress

Here's end results. I'll park a trailer on the left of the building and use the right side for visitors, etc. I have 3-6" over everything and suspect it will need some tuneup as it settles in. The geotextile was a hassle ( bunching up under spinning wheels ) when I had to be on it with the...

    Missouri Driveway Project - Progress

After grading, I chose to put down geotextile fabric. At one time, there had been a gravel drive up to the building but the areas around the building itself was soft, black dirt. After a very long dry spell, the day I had the gravel trucks scheduled, it rained 4.8". In driving rain, they...

    Any Gravel Spreading Tips?

Well, here's what I have to show for my efforts. The soil around the building is pretty soft so I elected to use geotextile fabric. My lesson with it was was that it's fine if you're going to drive / dump / spread on it. I had trouble with it moving around underneath me as I worked the...

    Any Gravel Spreading Tips?

We have no rain for 6 weeks. Last Friday, I took the afternoon off and had 3 truckloads of AB3 gravel ordered to my place for a new driveway / parking space. I knew rain was a chance but we'd been missed many times in the dry spell. Long story but while they were enroute, the sky opened up...
