Kubota l345 Engine removal info needed

Now I get the plan - if you can fix the 4wd's engine, the swap is off. On all the early Kubota L models with 4wd, the front axle needs to come off to get the front timing cover off the engine. The axle and bracket can remain attached to each other and roll away once the front driveshaft and...

kubota l345 front engine case removal help

Because, like on many tractors, the engine is the frame. Everything else bolts to it.

Kubota l345 Engine removal info needed

The axle can be taken away from the engine without "splitting" anywhere else. There are several places along the length of the tractor where it can be split. The factory manuals refer to it as "separation". One such place is at the rear of the engine (most often separated there for changing...

kubota l345 front engine case removal help

With radiator out, and the pump taken off at the chain coupling, the axle should come away for the OP's engine swap.

kubota l345 front engine case removal help

Good so far - how would the new coupling nut be prevented from loosening? It has to be tightened enough to drive the pump. The new pump drive shaft should use a flexible chain coupling like the present one so the pump can be bolted to the frame.

kubota l345 front engine case removal help

Unfortunately someone in the tractor's past fixed a failed front pump drive by welding directly to the splined end of the crank, preventing removal of the nut without cutting the weld off. From your other posts, if the 4wd tractor's engine is being taken out and replaced by the 2wd's...

or get real fancy and use leather with vice-grips perpendicular to the splines - it doesn't turn very hard.

    HST Swap out

Congrats on doing the replacement - glad its operating again. I'd suggest taking the regulator off the old one, and the big valve plate off the back to see the condition of the internals. Hope you post pictures of what you find - Dick B

Kubota l345 Engine removal info needed

Swapping out the engine is some wrenching, but its quite doable. If the loader on the 4wd is the Kubota Model 1720, most of it can stay in place. I've split L345 and L355 4wd machines with the 1720 without removing the loader. There's a front "chin bar" that has to be unbolted, and the front...

    HST Swap out

Hello again Ferguson, hope the replacement unit works to your liking. My suggestion would be to preserve the old one until the new one has proven itself to you. If, after a period of time you are thinking about the old one's future, I'd be interested in doing some forensic inspection on it to...

Kubota L48 has sat for 12 years without starting, Tractor worked fine when I parked it.

L48's are pretty bullet-proof. It could well only need a battery to just start and go. If it has been outside, go over all the chromed cylinder rods with steel wool to smooth any pitting. I would simply turn the key and watch the dash - if the yellow glowplug light comes on, and goes out...

    Back to HST problum

To Ferguson: The LEFT side filter (your pic 2603) is the crucial one for the HST - if its clean that is GOOD NEWS. to GreensvilleJay: The charge pump functions as a keep-fill (400 psi) for the high-pressure circuit, enabling its main pump and motor to produce HST operating pressure (5000+...

B2630 wont move in medium or high range only low

With only low and neutral working, the range gears for M and H aren't moving into mesh. Maybe get a helper to operate the shifter while you watch the linkage underneath - if there isn't a problem there, it might need a look inside.

B2630 wont move in medium or high range only low

Sounds like something's not assembled right or has become disconnected in the range shifting mechanism - either on the outside or maybe inside the transmission.

The filter that protects the HST is part 180 on this diagram (under left floorboard). Has that one been inspected?

Henro: - this model doesn't step down like the newer ones can, this one's adjustment of ratio is done by the servo as the pedal changes position. PoTreeBoy: - agreed the pic shows a lot of debris. Still some question about which filter it was found in. The high-pressure HST filter is pretty...

    Back to HST problum

Hi Ferguson - I'm kinda late to the discussion - maybe you have already done this: Start by setting the engine speed up around 2000 rpm. Go along on the level and start up a grade. Instead of pressing the HST pedal down more, hold the pedal steady - or even try backing off the pedal a little...

    Back to HST problum

Driving on a flat surface might work fine. In any experiment I usually prefer to reduce the number of variables if possible. In this case a range of speeds and start/stop/changes of direction may be needed to capture all that's going on - observations, sounds, vibrations, etc. - all easier to...

    Back to HST problum

I've been hesitant to suggest a way to test it - it needs extreme care to be done safely. This is also the next generation of HST after the one in my L48 - so it would be best to look at a WSM before trying determine causal factors. One way that might show something is to select 2wd, block the...
