    Replacing hydraulic fittings

I did not know they made a compound with Teflon, that's a great thing to point out. Every time I use that stuff I end up with on my face and in my hair! Paint thinner or gasoline are the only way I can ever get it off me. I was in my garage earlier and looked at the generic brand I have made...

    Replacing hydraulic fittings

For future reference, I would bet your original fittings didn't need to be replaced. You just may have needed to apply a touch of thread compound to it and let it setup. 9 times out of 10 JIC (compression fittings with a running thread) need a bit of sealant between the metals that seat...

Remove that, it's just a thread protector.

    Replacing hydraulic fittings

Pick up some Permatex thread sealant or any thread compound that does not contain Teflon. Rectoseal #5 works well too but not as good as Permatex (Permatex can also be called tough grip, it's mainly a thick black compound found in any plumbing supply stores or even Home Depot). Very few thread...

    Wanted: Starter Rebuild Kit

Golden eagle has it for $475, the part number changed to 17341-63010. In the future try searching kubota part dealer's websites, they usually have it or can order it. I would assume one could get a starter for anything with a little searching ;)

    B748 snocaster?

That is very nice, it looks better than new! I love these old tractors and how advanced they were for their time. At the same time they are built to be able to repair anything with a few hand tools.

B7100 hydraulic question for the pros out there

Thanks guys, I did find that manual but my gear box is not covered under that.... I did email durst hopefully they will get back to me today. Wolfman you make complete sense. This model takes grease for lube but I would assume it would need at least one breather. Being that is is a sealed...

B7100 hydraulic question for the pros out there

Is there anyone out there that has any knowledge of this gear reducer? As I said before I did not get a manual with it and honestly don't have any knowledge of them. It's a durst brand 10:1 and I have a stupid question. It came with 2 breathers that I'm assuming need to installed on the sides...

    B219 loader cylinder rebuild

I believe you #11 is the "squeegee" as some call it. Mine was a bear to get out but I believe I had to collapse it to get it out, I don't have a any fancy presses or anything. When I set the new one I used a brass set pin, any soft metal would work fine, just use a nice thin oil to lube it up...

How often do you buy parts?

I'm new to owning a tractor but have purchased a lot of parts for my old girl. I found a lot of good buys on eBay and golden eagle for factory parts. Filters I picked up at Wally World and Napa along with oil. Our local kubota dealer got shut down a few years back for fininacing people with...

B7100 hydraulic question for the pros out there

That's a great idea with the chain, I never thought of that, thanks for input. I've decided to use the sprocket as a gear, it should work out just fine. I have a gear reducer mounted to the motor so my math says the drive gear should spin at .33 RPS. That will rotate the chute 180 deg in 9...

A little Encouragment To Go To Work Today

Good for him, addiction is the devil, glad to hear he went straight and did something that will have a positive effect on his future. I hope he stays that way and kudos to you for pushing him. I don't have any kids but I deal with it within my family, not an easy thing when they don't want to...

B7100 hydraulic question for the pros out there

Well I got my parts in today but I hit a major bump in the road. Even though the chute sproket is 3/4 pitch the teeth are a bit too wide for the roller chain. I may file all the teeth :( Or use my 10 T sprocket as a gear to turn the chute. Using it as a gear would work but I think it would...

A little Encouragment To Go To Work Today

Sadly that happens every day with food stamps and EBT. I know there are people out there that really need it and should get it and don't. From what I can see with my own eyes around here too many are getting it that don't deserve it. For example I stand behind a kid in his 20's buying 12 red...

tractor security and dealing with possible theft.

Ohh yeah forgot to add.... Hang a few signs that say Danger Keep Out Serious Injury Or Death Could Occur Beyond This Point. Take a picture of it for your records in case you catch one so they can't sue you. :D

tractor security and dealing with possible theft.

I hate thieves, luckily I haven't had the problem yet, but never say never. When I worked down in Charlotte, NC we had a few kx1213 track hoes. The company had a few stolen and started taking all of the main fuses out every night. What I do in my garage is set a few traps, just don't forget...

    Brown stink bugs

Thankfully we don't have that problem in the northeast. I did find this video of how to build a trap to catch those little stinky things, maybe it will work. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VwUuHhWYvDA

Tooljunkie that's interesting, I figured if someone was to do that on the regular they would have some sort system to help get the job done quickly.

    Favorite Chemicals for Coolant Flush

Zatcke - that sounds like a good plan of attack to me and I like your idea of the 2 pail configuration to help separate the sediment. It's good to know that an increased temperature helps the cleaning process. I've never tried it because basically I'm usually working on a very large scale...
