    Blowing snow - volume question

When the snow is over the top of the blower, drive into the bank a little, wait for the fan to handle that load. Back out and hopefully the snow above where the blower went in will fall down, then blow that snow out. Do this until you get the first pass through the drive. Then take maybe half...

Getting ready to retire, what did you treat yourself with?

Once you start selling stuff it becomes a job and you have schedules to meet etc. I have been carving stuff with a wood CNC and refuse to do anything for money. Don't want the hassle, just want a hobby

Methonol and water vs rim guard

I had an old Farmall Model H. Didn't have the capability to do CaCl at the time so used just plain water. It froze in the tires and when you were plowing you could feel the serge as the air spot in the tire went round. It worked well enough for me, until ... A friend was doing some yard...

Land plane or box blade with scarifiers for an icy gravel driveway?

Just a wild off the cuff idea - How about one of those lawn aerators. Just to rough the top layer of ice. You'd have to do it every morning though.

'Fess Up'......mistakes you've made or close calls.......

Some days I only make one mistake, I get out of bed. I had an old IH model H with a manure bucket. I was pulling rocks out of a parking area. I left it running, my 4-year old in the seat and I got down to move the chain to the next rock. (And before the internet cops start, he could not reach...

Getting ready to retire, what did you treat yourself with?

My hobby has always been woodworking. When I retired I bought a CNC router and make things for friends and family. I also volunteer at a local place 2 mornings a week. Attached is a flag out of oak made for a friend that rebuilds old Farmall Cubs:

    BX 2200 Alternator upgrade

I remove the steel panel under the battery and cover the inside grill so it sucks air from under the tractor. Don't forget to replace everything for the summer or you will plug the radiator with dead grass ( don't ask how I know)

    Road tax and electric vehicles

I wanted to reply to an on-going thread but it was on Daily Chuckles so figured I'd start a new one here. I really think it won't be long before EV's are taxed for mileage. If your state does inspection, they get your odometer reading once a year and could tax you on the miles driven. Yes...

Solar power for my new home

I put in a 5.7KW grid tie system 10 years ago. At the time I looked at the cost of batteries (lead acid), the maintenance, and replacement cost and bought a standby generator instead. Been very happy with the choice. The system paid for itself in 6 years. Since then I have installed the...

Can you move a deck forward?

I realize it involves cutting and welding, but much simpler than moving the deck forward. I cut a V out of the anti-scalping wheel brackets and bent them outward, welded them back together and drilled a new hole in it to keep the wheel in line
