    Cultipacker options

For small jobs a 3-point version would be more convenient. Well drained light silt loam soils that don't have a terrible tendency to be cloddy will not take much to break up and provide a nice seed bed. Tow behind models give you the option of pulling it directly behind the disk and doing both...

    Farmall H question

I believe that the charging settings were independent of the light settings. Something like regular charge, high charge, and then the headlight on settings were on the high charge side as additional high and low beam settings. Of course it was 6 volt, so you really had low, and lower beam...

    Farmall H question

I "believe" that they all used the same 6 volt positive ground generator. The voltage regulator was mounted in various places. Some on the top of the generator, some on the right side near the front of the fuel tank, and some under the back of the fuel tank on the tank support. Proper location...

How do I create a level grade with a landscape rake (LR1684) & gauge wheels?

"I'd suggest setting grade stakes to your desired elevations on 20-foot centers and work the soil to those points. A power rake on a tracked skid steer, if available in your area would do a great job." Ditto. Mostly. Borrow or rent a laser level (easy to use) and set a few wooden hubs (sorry...

    Kubota M4500 Overheating

Does it actually boil over or just show hot on the gauge? If it doesn't actually boil coolant it could just be the gauge.

    Kubota M4500 Overheating

Radiator! Replaced mine last summer. Huge difference. I guess I should ask under what conditions it's overheating first and is it actually boiling over or just running in the hot range of the gauge? Tired radiator cap can be at fault too. My M4500 would run a little bit hot mowing hay (New Idea...

Tach and hour meter stopped working on L2501

Lube the new one prior to installing. If it has a plastic liner - silicone grease, if metal a medium weight sticky oil like chain saw bar oil. Usually corrosion or routing around sharp corners that gets those.

Tach and hour meter stopped working on L2501

The hour meter would have to be disassembled ,or, rolled ahead with a chunk of the old cable and a drill. For 5-6 hours..... Probably not really worth the trouble.

    Implements choices and designs

The add-on grapple would be nice. May have to make a trip to the scrap yard and build myself one of those.

    M6060 Rear Remote Leak

Ok, but I refuse to spring for anything more than jelly filled.

    M6060 Rear Remote Leak

Well, all hydraulic couplers on tractors now are ISO spec. Probably/most likely 5675's 1/2 inch pioneer body style. They are all supposed to be manufactured to the same spec. Hence interchangeability from one implement and/or one tractor to another. They are specifically labeled as...

    Oil pan paint coming loose

Hmmm. Looks like powder coat. That wasn't some engineers best idea. FWIW pics of a new pan on Coleman Equipment parts page show black finish inside and out.

    M6060 Rear Remote Leak

The couplers are all ISO (international standards organization) now. You should be able to pick them up at the nearest dealership for any color tractor.

    BX2380 hydraulics still leaking

I should clarify. They are not interchangeable at the connection to the hydraulic hose. A standard ISO hydraulic fitting would connect to any other standard ISO fitting it's just how they attach to the hose that you have to worry about.

    BX2380 hydraulics still leaking

Npt hydraulic fittings require tape or Teflon sealant. O-ring fittings must have the O-ring in place on the male end. The two are not interchangeable even though they will often thread together. The npt fittings are a tapered thread and the o-ring fittings are straight threaded. Mixing will...

To fill or not to fill...also, spacers

Grew up with filled tires on farm tractors, hate it! Pain in the @$$ when you eventually have to fix a leak, harder on the tire carcass, and at least technically not as traction efficient as wheel weights (although you probably wouldn't notice the last one). Buy wheel weights if you can afford...

    Tools Used

Well... The rear axle on my M4500 broke two weeks ago without warning, down the road in the neighbors hay field of course. There was no warning, no indication of trouble and no amount of preventative maintenance or inspection would have revealed the problem. Things break. I think the op's...

Having a hard time getting attachments on

What often happens is that dried out grease and dirt build up in the spring under the locking pin button and it won't depress quite far enough to let it slide on easy. Spray the locking pin inside the splined coupler end and around the edges on the outside. Work it in and out continuing to lube...

Anyone Every Used one of These for a Tach sender?

It's probably going to give you a signal, but not all tachs use the same signal. When the electronic advance ignition system on my CH25 in my Simplicity Legacy took a dump I had to change it out to the redesign replacement parts that Kohler switched to. Which of course did not include a tach...
