What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Did some productive (rather than destructive) things also. Moved one of the I beams onto saw horses to clean and 'paint' with Ospho. After wire brushing part of it I realized the rust wasn't bad at all. So just hosed it off and wiped it down first. This last shot was taken about 6 hours...

Awesome dogs / Crazy pets Thread

Yes, she usually goes off the patio onto the grass and lays in the sun in the heat of the day. 15-20 minutes later she is pawing at the door to come back in the house. Like I said the yellow lab isn't fond of being out in the sun at all during a hot day. Daisy is just a strange dog :)

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I learned I should really think before. . . I have a very large oak near the 10 arborvitaes I planted last year. In the afternoon one of the large branches was shading the trees. Sooo. . . When I constructed my ballast box I put in a long 3/4" forged eye bolt into the reinforcing for the...

Something wrong with this dog! It's 92 degrees out. That driveway must be a zillion degrees, yet she loves to lay in the sun. The yellow lab wants no part of it - he heads for the shade on days like this and parks his butt there.

How to store a large Auger for easy attachment?

I like Runs_With_Scissors / Tractor Mikes idea - should be easy enough to do with 4X4's. Then I read GreensvilleJay's post - That may be the winner :) Easy enough to drill the correct size holes, just have to find a suitable liner. Thanks to all for the suggestions

    If you never believed Darwin

The coroner later said the victim, 41-year-old Allen Ray McGrew, had ignited a large firework on top of his head. Witnesses told investigators he was wearing a large top hat, and put the firework on top of the hat before lighting it. The device exploded, causing “massive head injuries.” McGrew...

DustyRusty can you post a pic? That sounds like a doable solution without wasting a lot of good lumber.

How to store a large Auger for easy attachment?

So, my 18" auger was just dropped off - haven't even unpacked it yet. It weighs about 80lbs - 50 more than my doctor wants me to lift. I made an easy storage unit for hanging the phd but nothing for the augers. Up till now I just store the 9" and 12" on pallets off the ground. This isn't going...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Slow tractor time. Finally got the building and electrical permit to put up the radio tower. That means post hole digger time. I have 3 12' long I beams to plant in the yard for anchor points. An 18" auger is my first choice - no back hoe here :( Ordered the 18 incher and it should be in soon...

How often does YouTube save you $$$$

VERY TIMELY POST!!! My daughter just called. Her dryer is out. Repair guy came today. $440 plus tax to fix. She wanted to ask me if she should just buy a new one - this one is 14 years old. I asked what they were going to fix. He told her it was the heating element. Just looked at a youtube...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Tower Time! I finally reached the point where I can start my amateur radio tower project. I made the mistake of asking the zoning department if i needed a variance - I'm putting up a 60' tower. I should have just done it, like I did for the last 3 I put up. So, after filling out the zoning...

    Various stages of incompletion.

If there ever was an example of "Boat ownership, a hole in the water to throw money into". . . Nice work! My dad was into boating his whole life. I know 1st hand the obsession it is :)

Rewiring Air Compressor Control - solution, see last post

and the epilog. . . After the contactor repair I installed the control switch in the garage and mounted a 75' hose reel. As always, some drama. Everything was going fine until I started mounting the reel on the bracket that supports it. There are 2 bushings that serve as bearings when you...

post hole digger recommendation for 3-point

Years ago I bought a 'beater' on Craigslist for about $300 iirc. The only thing I did to it was change the oil in it when I got it. Drilled over 100 holes in terrible rocky / rooty ground (went thru a load of shear bolts) and then sold it for what I paid for it. It looked like crap but worked...

    Cautionary Tale - 71 isn't the new 23

I'm with you except. . . if I have a full body harness on then I'm a hero on a tower. Without it, 2 steps on a step ladder are my limit.
