    Key switch

That setup is similar to both the b7200 and b8200 i have, glow-off-on-start. You could grab either of those and it should work.

    Key switch

He has to swap out the key switch anyway, so he's going to be in there whether he likes it or not. It should be fairly spacious though.

    Best older unit?

B7200 if you can find it is a great machine. Having power steering option, HST, 4x4 will make it much more versatile. Also you can get them with loaders and the hydraulics are very strong on them. Otherwise b5100 is significantly better than the other two.

    Key switch

It's really not that hard. Take a multimeter and put the key to "ON". Measure what has voltage at the back of the key, that's your first relay. Same for glowplugs and same for start. Note, start will probably have 2 hots, it'll run the glowplugs while it's starting. I didn't want to do that for...

    Key switch

I don't, however this would be a great opportunity to add remote start. I've done it with one, and have the parts on the way to do it to my other one. It's $12 for the 3 relays and one fob. Hit the ignition toggle, hold the glowplug button for 10 seconds, then bump the starter until it starts...

Finally got my cab on the tractor

Something got into my cab... My heater fan doesn't move, it's filled with mud, and my radio doesn't work at all. I did get the stall mat cut to fit. Blinkers and floods work just fine though.

    3 point PTO Generators

I have a 10kw stand alone generator in a shed that plugs into my whole house. When my power is out, chances are I'm using my tractor, or I can't get my tractor to where my electrical box is. If you go PTO, be prepared to have your tractor tied up for hours on end, and you won't want it running...

does your tractor have a horn

My B8200 has a horn, but it doesn't work. It's on my list of repairs.

    Truck got totaled

Glad you and your family is safe. I'm all ford, all the way, even though I currently drive a GM. It's just reinforced my passion for Fords, and will be getting back into one soon. I tow big loads and it is night and day between ford and gm. Cab off is amazingly easy for fords IF you have a...

Finally got my cab on the tractor

Every time it's snowing before I do anything. I figured I'll try to get started earlier this time and get out in front of it.

Finally got my cab on the tractor

Put new insulation down. I used a 4'x6' stall mat. Was a nightmare to cut through, and I'm not done yet, but it's mostly there. Need to add a few bolts to pin down important areas. It's much better than my old recycled rubber mat, extremely durable and tough.

    B1600 steering

Pictures would go a long way, if your model isn't in the US, maybe some people would not be familiar with it, but might recognize it if they saw it.

    Preparing for winter with BX

Winter diesel doesn't really start to gel until 5F, with addetive -10F. It rarely gets to -10F for any period of time here.

    How do you refuel?

I just picked up one of these guys: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LXS9XNW I mow weekly for 8 months out of the year, and snowblow for 3. All that is high engine rpm stuff, not just driving the trailer around. Some times we get a significant amount of snow, sometimes not, but I'd rather...

    Hurricanes and Vacation Homes

I've thought about getting something down south, but definitely not florida if I want to be coastal. To much risk, and if something happens you have to go down to fix it, and the fixes could take days or weeks. Those that I know that have them are money pits. I prefer my 37' class A on a camp...

    How do you refuel?

I was shopping for a ~20hp diesel to convert my 10kw generator when I found my zero turn. Sadly I couldn't scrap the zero turn just for the engine. Now I'm shopping for another diesel engine, hopefully this time not attached to a mower.

    B2650 Mower Desk

15 year kubota commercial zero turns still fetch $6-8k regularly in good condition. I just bought one, and having mowed with everything else, it's by far the fastest and easiest method of mowing for me.

    New Owner

Sounds like a nice package. I would love a FEL on my tractor. Brush hogging when you don't know what's in the grass can be scary, lots of loud unexpected sounds. Have you thought about eventually finishing it? You could get a MMM for your finished grass around the house too.

    ZD21 Hydro Rebuild

I don't think the problem is speed. I think I need to get comfortable with setting the rear wheel in actual reverse when the other one is forward, that way it's not completely stopped when making those hairpin turns, so it doesn't sit in one place and grind. Still I have a lot of obstacles in...

    How do you refuel?

That sounds rather tedious. I keep 300 gallons of diesel fuel on hand at any time, in my home heating oil tank. It's the same stuff. I can see methanol or gasoline, but diesel is hardly a threat, i'd wager a third of the homes in america have oil furnaces, often in the basement or crawl space...
