    drainage problem

You might try a shank plow, it's just a plow shaped like a V. Some people call them a potato plow. I'm sure there would be some shoveling involved. Just my 2 cents...

    To hydro or not

I'm just busting your b.... Eric. I was just picturing a dude your size shifting gears and typing on your phone at the same time. I can do that on my HST, btw.... Haha The weather is crazy here too. Have a good weekend!

    To hydro or not

Now that's not opinion at all... I fall into weekend worrier status but I'm still worried about longevity. I'm curious as how you can spend 10-12 hrs a day on your tractor and still have time to respond to every topic in this forum? I don't think the majority of cars are auto because people...

ball park price 50 hr chech up at dealer

I'm coming up on my 50hr mark myself. I plan to do the service myself and my dealer said as long as I buy the correct oil and filters preferably from him that it wouldn't effect the warranty.

    To hydro or not

When I was shopping around in Dec for my new L3800. I was dead set on getting the manual. My uncle has a newer Kubota with the manual and a couple older gentlemen from the old tractor repair shop agreed that the manual was the only way to go. Once I started talking to the salesmen at the...

    Lending Tools for Maintenance ....

Some times you learn what NOT to do from your old man. He isn't a good borrower, and I picked up on that growing up. As a young man, I borrowed a couple belly boats( inflatable inner tubes thta you fish out of) from my uncle. I did not return them in a timely manner and left them in my boat...

    Plastic Mulch Layer

That's awesome, did you make the high tunnels or is it a kit you bought? Thanks for the pics. I may look into something like that for next year.

    Plastic Mulch Layer

That's kinda what I thought they were for. I'm getting pretty fired up for this season as well. Just a dusting of snow here last week, melted off the next day. I plowed an 1 1/2 a few weeks ago, it's just to wet to do anything else with it right now. According to the farmers almanac I can plant...

    Plastic Mulch Layer

Thanks for the reply, as I said I plan to expand my garden this year. In the years past I have used the square foot gardening technique with good results. Well it was actually 8'x40" with the same principles as a sq ft garden. I'm sure I could make a similar devise. I will need to pick your...

    Plastic Mulch Layer

Sweet set up, is it set up to cover the sides of the plastic with dirt or do you have to do that by hand? I'm expanding my garden this year to something close to what you have pictured. Do you make the mounds of dirt or does the weight of the tractor make them with the tires?

Buy On March 31st or April 1st??

I have a tendency to over think purchases as big as this. I thought about buying for a couple years. Luckily they still had the zero % deal when I bought. I just kept working on the JD every time I needed to use it. This may sound odd but a friend of mine passed away in November at the age of...

    L3800 broken fuel filter body

I replaced my fuel filter body but have not made any upgrades to prevent it from happening again. I bought a few square U bolts to make a cage but haven't been able to get my buddy over here with his welder to put it all together. I'll post pics if I ever get it completed. I like the inline...

    Thinking about a L 3800 ?

I have a L3800, I'm also 6'3" and 220 lbs. I fit fine on it, the only issue I have had so far is turning on the hazards with my knee. I'm sure my neighbor thinks in crazy, I plowed an 1 1/2 acres last week with my hazards flashing about half the time. :D

    Thinking about a L 3800 ?

I have 22 hrs on my L3800, it's done everything I've asked it to do. So far I have spread 10 tons of rock on my driveway, took down 3 mounds of dirt(old motorcross track), cleared snow out of 6 different driveways, plowed an 1 1//2 acres, good times !

    level of transmission lubrication

Thank you for the reply. I noticed that the hst isn't as noisy now after adding the 1/2 gallon of fluid. Do all of them whine?

    level of transmission lubrication

I have slightly different question about the trans/hydro fluid level on a l3800. I was doing a overall check and found that the fluid level wasn't showing in the sight glass. I don't believe I have a leak as I park it on a concrete floor and haven't noticed anything on the floor. It had 18 hrs...

    Question about L3800 fuel gauge

I was wanting to know the hour to gallon ratio on my l3800 too. I have been letting it get down to about 1/8 of a tank then adding 5 gallons at a time. I don't live close enough to the to the pump to fill it up there and get an accurate measurement of fuel. When I add 5 gallons it reads full on...
