I purchased a L 3800 HST for clearing trees on our property as its main chore. It has the 5400 loader and a root rake and it just flat kicks arse. It has far surpased all that I thought I could do with it. It 4 wd of course and the hydrostatic is the ONLY way to for for loader work. Power to spare.:D Glad I passed on the Deere.;)

I have 22 hrs on my L3800, it's done everything I've asked it to do. So far I have spread 10 tons of rock on my driveway, took down 3 mounds of dirt(old motorcross track), cleared snow out of 6 different driveways, plowed an 1 1//2 acres, good times !

Make sure to check the 3 point hitch on the tractor you select. My L3800 jerks when you raise the 3ph slow. The dealer worked on it, but it still has the problem. No other problems with the tractor.

The jerky 3pt hitch is a common problem on the L3800's.
More so on the L3400 and L2800. Some worse than others.

My L3800 has a very slight jerky action when raised very slowly. I wouldn't have noticed it ever, if I had not read about it on the internet...

BTW, I've had a 3800 over a year now and it has surpassed my expectations. Great Tractor! Huge value!

I had the chance last Friday to stop by my local dealer and do some crawling around on some new tractors. My girlfriend was up for the weekend and she wanted to go shopping so I made sure I looked at new equipment before she looked for new shoes HAHAHAHA!

Anyway I was kinda disappointed in the L3800 or perhaps I'm just to damn tall. I'm 6ft4 and when I climbed into the seat of the L3800 I could not get comfy. I felt like I was bumping into everything and my legs kept rubbing the gear shifter on the left side or the 3pth lever on the right. I did make my way over to the L4600 and NOW there's some elbow room for my big ass. Daddy likey that one alot!

I know it sounds goofy but I feel more comfy on my lil B6100 with a raised seat then I did on the L3800. I reckon its time to chop down my legs and shrink a little.

Eric, at 6'4" I'd say the L3800 is not for you. The cockpit is kind of tight. But did you move the seat back? Took me a few days to figure out the seat was adjustable. Haha :)

I'm 6' 5" and the L3200 (same as L3800) fits fine with the seat all the way back (just like every car/truck I ever drove). No space problems operating it, but I'm sure the larger framed tractors would have more room.

Oh yeah the first thing I always do is slide the seats back. I got a little roomier. I think the rest of the problem is due to my girth. I haven't been on a scale in a while but I'm sure I weigh somewhere around 315lbs. My fatass rolls sideways and I'm kinda wide with a 48 inch waste. Which was probably the reason why my legs were bumping into everything on the sides of the tractor.

It was fun crawling around on some new tractors, felt like a fat kid in a candy store. But new is not an option any time soon.

I have a L3800, I'm also 6'3" and 220 lbs. I fit fine on it, the only issue I have had so far is turning on the hazards with my knee. I'm sure my neighbor thinks in crazy, I plowed an 1 1/2 acres last week with my hazards flashing about half the time. :D

have not used the 3 pt on the 3800 yet, mostly frond end work with the root rake. I have a dove field to plant this summer, the disc will be put to work then. As far as not fitting on the tractor?? Im 6,2 and 210 with no issues with the seat back. Yall need to loose some belly. Anywho, love the tractor.
