    L2501 Question

I'm planning to upgrade from my B2601 as well to more than likely and L series. What concerns me about the L2501 is pulling power with a finish mower up slopes. Not in tall grass but grass that is cut weekly. I need sufficient power to mow up slopes in medium gear! I'm thinking the L2501 might...

Newbie Fall Lawn Project looking for input

I built a poor mans drag to cover seed. Skip the big box stores and find a local fence company where you can probably get a scrap section of heavy gauge chain link fence around 5'x10'. Attach 2x6's to both ends, attach to tractor and drag. Can add weight to middle if necessary such as old...

    Lx2610 opinion

Moving round bales..........B2601/LX2610???????? And safely???????? Not the round bales in my neck of the woods! Something to consider is that a RFM is much more versatile than a MMM in terms of where you can mow and much easier to remove when necessary to do other tasks. Even if I had a $15k...

    Lx2610 opinion

My B2601 was delivered last September, approaching 150 hours seat time 80% of which has been mowing about 4 to 5 acres a week pulling the Landpride FDR1660 5 foot finish mower. I LOVE the B2601 for all the other tasks such as maintaining the gravel driveway (250 yards), bush hogging trails in...

    Seat upgrades?

Ferris ISX3300 and Scag Turf Tiger II with 72" decks are what I'm looking at. I think the Scag is probably a better all around mower but I'm leaning toward to the Ferris. Goodness gracious the Ferris is comfortable. $15k either way give or take. Or sell the B2601, add $15k to that amount could...

    Seat upgrades?

This fella changed his seat on the L2501, not sure if it would fit a LX. Don't need MMM, pulling 5' finish mower. My only question about the L2501 is the power it has to pull a 5' mower up a slope in medium gear??? In grass that is cut weekly the B2601 struggles with the loader on, better but...

    Seat upgrades?

2 back surgeries, cut 5 acres this afternoon on the B2601. R4's and filled tires. I'm pondering options as mowing is my main task. I know the L2501 seat is bad but I wonder if the extra weight, larger tires and stability of the L2501 would make for a smoother mowing experience.

    Seat upgrades?

That's good to hear that you have experience and can say without a doubt the LX seat is a substantially better "in use" and I agree with your B2601 seat comments. I averaged about 5 hours a week mowing on the B2601 and its just not pleasant. I've been looking at some of the nicer commercial zero...

    Seat upgrades?

I'm wondering just how much more cushion the regular LX2610 seat has compared to say a B2601 or the LX2610SU. I've sat on the LX2610 seat and it just doesn't seem like it's that much better. I'm looking for an alternative to mowing instead of my B2601 due to the weekly beating I take. I'm only...

B2601 how to carry gear/tools to the woods?

The frame is from Rural King, King Kutter I believe. My high priced Landpride QH15 quick hitch has been gathering dust since I got the Pat's Quick Hitch. Like the Pat's soooooooooooooooo much more.

B2601 how to carry gear/tools to the woods?

Just built for my B2601. Only thing left to do is finish the rear removable tail gate. Waiting on some Bed Claw plates to come in the mail and she will be done. Plans at DIY My Way.

    B2601 with rotary cutter

I'm only cutting 4 to 5 acres weekly / bi weekly with my B2601 and 5 foot FDR1660. From my standpoint coming up on my 1 year anniversary and 150 hours seat time the majority of which is mowing the B2601 with even the 5' mower is not the right tool for the job. My newbie tractor buying mistake...

    B2601 with rotary cutter

If you added weight in the bucket of the B2601 pulling a 5' mower and had to deal with going up any slopes you will be in the seat until xmas. Medium gear would not even be an option at least from my experience. If you are not mowing much on a regular basis its a non issue. Mowing in low gear if...

    B2601 with rotary cutter

I use a 4' RCR1548 bush hog and a 5' FDR1660 finish mower on my B2601 with rear wheel spacers and filled tires. You got to be REAL CAREFUL with the 5' mower on the B2601. It can pull and turn the 5' just fine...........that is not the issue at all........... but if you lift the 5 footer on...

    Aerator Alternative

Ingenuity..........that's great. Lots of good ideas. I'm in farm / ag country so maybe I can find bulk gypsum instead of buying 40 or 50 bags.

    Aerator Alternative

Yes, this is the plan. It will take several years. I've got PH levels ideal over the past 12 months as a first step but still a long way from the finish line! My yard is actually right at 5 acres. 4 those acres are in great shape but the graders did a number on the acre they disturbed around the...

I'm familiar with subsoilers. Had not thought about that.

    Aerator Alternative

Thanks for the input. I'll see what I can figure out to break up the concrete a tad to overseed. The softcal gypsum pellets looks interesting. Will have to see the cost and amount needed to cover about an acre. Probably going to be a multi year process to recondition the soil.

    Aerator Alternative

Don't have access to a disc. Good idea though. Agri-Fab makes a 48" tow behind core aerator that you can put cinder blocks on to weight it down. $275 ish but something tells me in a year or two I might be thinking, "boy.....that was a waste of $. Thought about renting one of those push aerators...

    Aerator Alternative

Just finished a new house build. Total area that was graded is about an acre. Last fall I tilled the area after the initial grading and seeded KY 31 fescue and this past February frost seeded Ladino clover into the same area. The soil in this area now is very compacted. While the KY 31 fescue...
