    lower bonnet installation

Hi- I have a BX1860, which is similar to your BX2660. I don’t think you’ll have to take the loader off, but you will need to remove the brush guard. You won’t need to remove the upper bonnet, but you will need to use the plastic strap/holder that holds upper bonnet half-way closed. If the upper...

    Bent Tine

Yep, you’ll need either a third function kit or less ideally (at least on the BX) rear remotes. Depending on the kit, you can expect to pay between $500 and $800 for the third function kit. The install is fairly straightforward and takes some basic mechanical skills and tools. I ended up with...

    Bent Tine

No worries - I found it used at a dealership about an hour away. After some haggling, I got it for $600.

Well, as luck would have it, I don't have access to anything that would heat the steel up to anywhere near being red. I do however have a 5' piece of steel pipe and a larger pipe wrench...weekend project. I'll slow and steady. Yea, I have a BX1860 and the LP grapple is ~48" and is just over...

    Third Function Valve Kit

Installed a Summit kit on my BX and no complaints so far. Go for it!

This is where I was headed in terms of sliding the pipe over the tine, wasn't thinking about using the pipe-wrench. I do have an 18" pipe-wrench...not sure that would work.

    Bent Tine

Here are a couple pictures of the tine. I’ve tried a couple times now to bend it back, but man, that steel is tough. I’ve been thinking of getting a long pipe, sliding it over the end, and then wedging the pipe against a large tree, and trying to use leverage to bend it slightly straighter...

    Bent Tine

Hi- Well that didn’t take too long - out working with my new-to-me grapple today and bent one of the lower tines. I tried clamping a piece of 3’ pressure treated lumber to the tine for leverage, and then pulling on that to try to straighten it but that didn’t really work. The grapple is a Land...

Quick Question - Did I Damage my BX?

Hi- Over the weekend I was playing around with my new grapple, which apparently meant that all my common sense went out the window. While backing slowly out of a brush pile, I absent-mindedly shifted the BX out of 4wd while moving backwards. I've never done this - I've always made sure to...

    Land Pride Grapple Cylinders

Nope, they aren’t raised or sharp-edged. I check the hydro fluid regularly, so I’ll keep an eye on it for sure.

    Land Pride Grapple Cylinders

Fired up the grapple this afternoon, just to try it out. Works great and with a little paint, it’ll look just like new 🙂

    Land Pride Grapple Cylinders

Ok, started to strip some of the rust off the cylinder bodies; looks better. I covered everything in a coat of WD-40, including the pistons. This took off quite a bit of dirt, but I do see some very small black marks which I assume are some pitting. There are two spots and they are very...

    Land Pride Grapple Cylinders

I won't lie, I am concerned about how it looks, but it sounds like structurally/functionally it should be fine and could just use a decent cleaning and re-painting. I agree - it would be a waste of $ to replace entirely if functionally it's sound. Thanks for the input on this!

    Land Pride Grapple Cylinders

Awesome, thank you. I believe this to be dirt but I haven't done yet had the time to really take a close look. I say dirt because the few times I've tried to rub some of this off, it comes right off on my finger. I do have some time today, so will try and clean-up with WD-40 and cloth.

    Land Pride Grapple Cylinders

Ok, dumb question; would 400-600 sandpaper be ok to use? Does it need to be emery cloth? Thanks!

    Land Pride Grapple Cylinders

So instead of cleaning up some of the rust and painting, just coat the cylinders (rust and all) with WD-40 and have at it? I'll try and get some pictures up just to confirm. The rods themselves look OK (to my untrained eye), with no pitting. Thanks!

    Land Pride Grapple Cylinders

Hi- I just picked up a used SCG0548 48" Land Pride grapple for my BX1860. Overall it's in good shape, but I noticed that the hydraulic cylinders are both fairly rusty, indicating it was kept outside without cover. While the rods don't look pitted or damaged, I'm considering replacing these...

    Grapple Question

Thanks. I've looked at this and I see 9/16 in in a lot of the part descriptions, which seems like a really odd size to me...thus my question.
