Woodland Mills WC-68 or WoodMaxx TM-8H or WoodMaxx WM-8H

Just adjust the hydraulic feed rate down a bit if it bogs. I run our WC46 at mid speed. Think any faster would border on being unsafe because it can really whip a tree around in the chute.

    Changing transmission oil type?

Yes, drain and refill. The gear oil is probably about 30w oil vs. about 20w for the replacement you've planned (if engine oil ratings are used). Gear and hydraulic oil is rated at 104 F vs. 212 F for engine oil. I once had a 1964 Valiant that specified either ATF or gear oil in the manual...

Which Kubota to get this time?

The B2601 runs rather low on the temperature gauge all the time. The BXs do not have enough ground clearance for our property. I'd probably rip away the HST cooling fan.

    Drain Fuel?

Sample it with a siphon. Turn brown? Milky? If looks okay, probably is. Stored our Benz for 4 years, and the diesel turned brown causing the engine to ping. Put some Chevron Techron in that stopped that. That was before low sulfur diesel. Doubt the low sulfur stuff will degrade much. If...

B2601 Treadle Pedal hard to use

Printed this out. Gonna try it.

B2601 Treadle Pedal hard to use

I also squirted silicone lube around those parts and any other parts that move underneath the seat. At least you can get to them on the B. All 3 JDs had like vanity plates in there that shielded everything from access. It has gotten easier but is still my main dislike of the B. I can get my...

Plastic PTO Guard - Chain it ? - or Let it spin..?

Why have the guard if you let it spin?

Flip - flopping R1 front tires - Cause internal damage? - See pics.

Demount and remount? Are you kidding? Get same by swapping sides with them. I put them on backwards on my Ryobi ZT480e. Recently turned them around. They were less "grabby" when backwards. Thinking about turning them back to backwards again.

    Simple Coolant Question

On all the tractors/diesel engines I've had (haven't look on the B2601 yet though) have a block drain plug located approximately above the oil filter and most have a similar plug on the thermostat that can be removed to vent. On the Isuzu, all the coolant was drained just with the petcock on...

    Brush Cutter Purchase

If you mow trails like I do, it would be a real nuisance in having to keep looking back and to the side of the trail to make sure you don't hang it on something. If only mowing a big field, it's what you want.

Three Point Hitch Not Lowering All The Way

Check your lowering rate valve, probably a knob just below and in front of the seat. Open it up a tad.

    Homemade garden bedders

You can order one from Agri Supply. Order a Keulavator, which is basically a bar mounted on some points to put it onto the 3ph. Then order 6 to 9 cultivator tines to bolt onto it. I had something similar to it. A friend of mine gave me his old JD M soil ripper. I designed a conversion to...

    fuel additive question

Won't hurt, but does no good to use more. Typically, only about 0.15% is needed.

    What oil should I buy?

I'm using M1 0w30 on the 2 diesel engines and M1 0w20 on all 3 gasoline engines. The 0w30 is European rated diesel. Tractor is B2601.

    PURCHASE WOOD CHIPPER

Have a WC46 and love it. You'll need a scissor jack or low rise hydraulic floor jack to lift the feed roller assembly when you get a piece stuck. (Notice I said "when", not "if") Won't happen that often once you get used to what won't feed and trim a bit with a chain saw. The 23 hp is plenty...

    PTO shroud

I removed the PTO shroud on the B2601.

    Compact tractor purchase

I'd scratch the tooth bar. Don't need it with box blade. I went with the B2601 instead of the LX2601. There are some issues with HST control and whine. No B2601 whine. Just don't like its reverse treadle pedal, but LX is same.

    New BX 1880 Owner

My first 4wd tractor was an 18.5 hp JD 4010. It was enough and also had the clearance needed in wooded areas that the BX does not have. The hp was completely adequate for FEL, rear cutter and wood chipping duties. You may want to put some protection underneath the BX to protect its HST...

    3 point wood chippers

Best paint for rust is Rustoleium's Rust Reformer. It converts rust, iron oxide, to iron sulfide. It's basically the same stuff as from other manufacturers since 1970 or earlier.

L2501 - empty or full, the trans fluid "window" looks the same......

I had one of those HST fluid windows in the JD 2025R. Used my wife when I last filled it to be able to see the fluid level when it hit the window. Before that, I just used a stick down the fill hole. Then measured where the oil level was with a tape when I removed the stick, keeping a finger...
