Everyone has his/her favorite brand.
If I'm reading your manual correctly, the B2601 falls into except external EGR column. If you want to be safe, use CF or CI-4 which is listed in both columns.

Time to change the oil in my B1550. 800 hrs I have been using Rotella 15-40 conventionl oil. I am thinking about going to a full synthetic to extend oil change intervals. The manual sys to use CC or CD labeled oil. What do yall think? Thanks

Any diesel oil will do fine - I would not use a straight 30 weight, rather 10w-30 or 15w-40......
walmart has whatever you need - synthetic is almost the same price as dyno, so you pick!
Write down the hours and even write down ON THE OIL FILTER the date and hours.

That manual needs updating…
The first number is viscosity when cold, a 5W will flow better than a 15W when starting…
The second number is viscosity when hot, how thin it get when hot, a -30 will be thinner than a -40…
The diesel oil specification that you are looking for is CK-4…
So, a full synthetic 5W-40 CK-4 oil…
You can use a full synthetic 15W-40, but I would use this only if you are using the tractor in really hot weather, or really heavy use, or both…
For use in really cold weather, a 0W-40 could be considered…

On the back of the paper, write down the numbers of oil filter, air filter, hydraulic, etc…
Also amounts of oil needed for a change, and any other stuff you need to remember…
On the front, keep a log of what you did to the tractor, and the hours on the meter when you did them.
50 hours oil, and oil filter, for example
On the bottom, write down when the next maintenance items need to be done…

My dealer handed me the Kubota 10w-30 for my first change, so I blame him if the engine fails.

I agree on the filters. 100 percent.
On the oil...not really. Any good diesel rated oil should be fine...
Just my honest opinion though...we each make our own decisions...
I DO BUY Kubota filters both oil and hydro,,, for oil I use M1 5w30 only because I got a relllllly good deal on it when a shop closed, never a problem. Lots of guys use Rotula I think thats how its spelled, or regular wallyworld branded stuff just make sure it is blended for diesel, and your good to go

I'll throw another name into the ring. I run Schaeffer 9000 SynShield OTR Plus Full Synthetic 5W-40 in four diesel engines and soon to be five with the recent addition of a 7.2L Caterpillar diesel engine in the LMTV. It's available from Amazon. For what it's worth, it's the only brand of oil that DP-Tuner recommends and it's what he runs in his personal vehicles.
As for filters, Kubota all the way.

For engine oil CK-4 is the most current rating. It's backward compatible meaning it meets all previous requirements. While picking up filters at the dealer pick up their 10-30 or 15-40, or get any quality CK-4 oil at Walmart.
I'm using M1 0w30 on the 2 diesel engines and M1 0w20 on all 3 gasoline engines. The 0w30 is European rated diesel. Tractor is B2601.

Now that was interesting! I never considered the Kubota filters to be excessively expensive (they are more up here north of the border though) but I was surprised to see just how much more filtering media there was compared to the NAPA platinum.
I wonder what the comparative filtration size is?
