Warming HST oil VS engine oil

It's probably 0w25 if it has -42 C pour point.

    Box Blade 101

I got a 5 ft Woods BB with the B2601. It works great. Thing is 518 #. Check weight of your BX re B2601. Limitation on the B is traction, not hp. The Canadian guy on Youtube did a video on his 5 ft BB he got for his B2601. Might be a similar one on a BX.

    Woodchipper for Kubota B2320

I had a MacKissic TPH-122 for 16 years. Used it initially on the 18.5 hp (engine) JD 4010. Never once bogged it down. Would chip up to 3.5 inches, which I did at times. The TPH-122 (now 123) also has a shredder, good for small stuff and leaves. Bought a WM WC46 when I had the JD 2025R. It...

I often take the old filter and rub its oily gasket against the new one.

$500 for Quick Attach Bucket? Buying B2601 in a few hours)

Quick attach bucket. Bolt on pallet forks are easiest to store but suffer from visibility (cannot see through the FEL to the forks). I have to take the bucket off to pick up or to dump my BB in the back of the basement of the carriage house; otherwise, I risk gouging my doors with the sharp...

Warming HST oil VS engine oil

The HST oil is pretty light, about 25w if rated by engine oil standards. Does not need heating.

    Stingy on fuel

    Yeah, it's about 0.34 gph.

    Stingy on fuel

I'd think you'd be caring what they use at that price! BIG difference between 0.6 ish gph I was expecting on this B2601 (from its hp) to less than 0.4 gph in reality. Love it.

Removing 17mm Threaded Freeze Plug from Kubota M8200

Are you sure it is a freeze plug. You mention in the subject line 17mm threaded. This is normally the block drain size on diesel engines (has been on every diesel I've ever owned. A freeze plug normally is a blank, circular thing put into about a 1 1/2 inch hole in the block. Had one on the...

Horsepower aside, is the BX2680 an upgrade over the BX1870?

That is the main reason why I never went with the BX. Found an 18.5 hp JD, a 4010 which would be called a 2019E if they made it today. Good tractor for 9 years until the driveshaft blew apart. Never could get that event out of my mind as I traded off a very good 2025R for the B2601. Gonna...

Tree work and pulling advice - rope or chain recommendations?

Whatever you use, prepare for if it breaks. Dad was pulling our car once with our tractor using a chain. The chain broke and wrapped back across the hood of the car, fortunately just shy of the windshield. Left a nice imprint on the hood of the car. On the tractor, you need some protection...

    Stingy on fuel

That's still less than my JD 2025R used because it is exactly the same, and the B2601 is 1 more hp. My B2601 is still trending to <0.4 gph.

    Mix hydraulic oil?

Very likely can. If worried, try to syphon or suck up a little bit of what you have and mix with an equal part of the new fluid you buy. Heat up to around 100 F and check to make sure there is no precipitate. Still could possibly not be compatible with the seals but very small chance. I sold...

What grease are you all using?

I bought the lube shuttle with a case of multi purpose grease. Wish I'd only gotten the gun itself after finding out you can buy the replacement grease for lube shuttle at JD dealers. I've grease out my ears. Anyone here in central Va can come get some from me. I put a LockNLube tip on the...

    Considering B2601 w/ FEL & BB (borrowed BX1870 long-term) - Tips?

Pretty much agree with what B737 said, but I've only ever tried out a BX18xx way back in 2004. Have had JDs since then and now have a B2601, which is better than JDs in every way except for jerky FEL and uncomfortable reverse HST. For me, it has plenty of space, but I am average size. It is...

    Stingy on fuel

I'm really surprised that others do not keep track of how much fuel their tractors use. Most don't seem to care, often buying much bigger tractors or engines than they actually need. This B2601 is using about half the fuel of the 3 JDs I've owned. That is BIG, in my opinion.

Looking for help with purchase – B/LX/L tractor owners with wet/soggy soil

Main issue I have with the L2501 is that the steering brakes are on the same side as the HST pedal. Cannot be used for steering. Love the B2601, but you may need the even bigger tires on the LX.
