Horsepower aside, is the BX2680 an upgrade over the BX1870?

Dealer said the 2380/2680 frame is larger than the frame of the 1870 I'd been borrowing from a friend.

Is the BX2680 notably different than the 1870 in any important ways?

The dealer is correct. For some reason, the previous BX generations to the BX80, the 18 horsepower model had a smaller frame with a shorter length and wheel base. That is no longer the case, all the models use the same frame and mechanicals. All of the 18 horsepower model always had smaller wheels and tires, it could be had with a 48 in mid mounted mower and it has fewer amenities like adjustable steering, cruise control and a better seat that are only available on the 23 and 26 horsepower models. Additional (maybe important) differences, the loaders can lift some more on all of the BX80 models and there is an available skid steer quick attach (SSQA) for the bucket for the BX80. The BX70 specs are the end of the brochure.

This is important for me, and the main reason I'm considering a B2601. Odd thing is, the pump output is 6.2 GPM on both the 70 and the 80. What else affects the scoopability?

With the b2601 it eliminates the hst fan that is on the bx models, to me that is a big plus

Pump output affects speed of movement. All things being equal. But between those two models, if the one with higher GPM also has larger diameter cylinders, the point may be moot.

System pressure affects maximum hydraulic force produced by hydraulic cylinders...so all things being equal, the system with higher pressure would lift more. But again, things are probably not equal between the two models.

Not sure about scoopability. Maybe a tooth bar on the loader would help in some cases.

Another HUGE difference between my BX and B is ground clearance, and overall ability to do more work regarding pulling, which I think is the result of larger tires and a bit more weight on the B.

I like having both a BX and a B...:)

That is the main reason why I never went with the BX. Found an 18.5 hp JD, a 4010 which would be called a 2019E if they made it today. Good tractor for 9 years until the driveshaft blew apart. Never could get that event out of my mind as I traded off a very good 2025R for the B2601. Gonna crawl underneath the B when I do the 50 hour service to see what driveshaft coupling it has. Our Benz 240D that was 26 years old when we sold it had a flexible coupling that looks like a tire sidewall with 4 reinforced holes for bolts.

I kinda wish I would've kept the 1870 over the 2380 I bought at end of December. the BX2380 sits higher than the BX1870, so now I'm at a higher center of gravity and it is way more tippier than the 1870 ever was on certain parts of my property. Now I'm gonna have to screw around with either wheel weights or loaded tires, not gonna mess with taking ballast box on/off constantly. Shouldn't need a ballast box to mow the lawn....

1) you shouldn't have either wheel weights or loaded tires on when cutting grass

2) installing a 'carryall' and grabbing the right skid of weight is far easier than on/of ballast box gymnastics.
