How-to: Raising the hydraulic pressure on an L2501 and measuring the REAL results

I went to 1950psi on the BX. Ran it for 5 yrs with no issues. I did actually take some measurements, but sadly none before upping the pressure as I didn't have the crane scale when I upped it. That crane scale has been great. I use it to weigh all my implements too. I linked the one I have...

    L2501 tlb total length

Can confirm. I have an 18’ trailer, and it fits with less than a foot to spare. If u set the hoe down to the side its shorter.

How-to: Raising the hydraulic pressure on an L2501 and measuring the REAL results

Thx! I upped the pressure on my BX and had years of trouble-free operation with it before selling it last fall and picking up this L. The original plans for the ‘barn’ were substantially smaller, but i have a tendency to underestimate, and really didn't want to be doing it again in 5 yrs, so i...

    Tipped B2601. Ooops

When i took my rear snowblower off this year i let it down on a pallet, then picked it up with pallet forks to put in barn b4 my backhoe went on. Was being super careful and going slow with forks low, but the tiniest of holes on a slight grade started me going over. I jammed the stick into...

How-to: Raising the hydraulic pressure on an L2501 and measuring the REAL results

Been wanting to do this since I picked up this machine, but made myself wait until I had time to measure the 'useful' lift capacity first. Figured I'd record while doing it to serve as a how-to. I know there's a few videos out there, but none appear to show the whole process from beginning to...

    L2501 Modifications

Worth noting that a lot of previous posts comparing the engine in the L2501 were looking at older indirect injection variants of the 1703. Many have argued that the engine in the L2501 is unique and has different parts. That's true if comparing to the much older indirect injection 1703's and...

    L2501 Modifications

I'm guessing that bigger airbox isn't needed unless you turbo, but I would defer to OP. He also states that up to 14 BTDC timing is ok, but be advised that based on my research anything over 11 degrees is out of spec per kubota for the DI variant of the 1703. I updated my prior post to include...

    L2501 Modifications

The procedure for injector timing is covered in the workshop manual for the L2501, page 1-S15 (pg 103 of the pdf) I would post it here, but not sure if that is permitted It's on kubotabooks, so I'm assuming it's ok to post it here. If not, please advise and I will remove it...

    L2501 Modifications

FYI, for anyone who wants to nerd out on it, if you just bump up the revs like I did, extrapolating out from the published dyno's, you're a bit over 28hp, or ~15% increase. If you were to bump ignition timing to 10deg BTDC, you'd unlock over 36hp (based on Kubota's published #'s for...

Which one of you did this?

not sure what was more satisfying .. watching the the tractor operator corral him the 2nd time, or the nose of that car plunging into the water. .lol

that's a great visual, and from my experience. quite accurate

    L2501 Modifications

I bumped my throttle-limit up to 2750rpm this last weekend, as measured by an optical RPM gauge. The gauge on the dash was pretty darn close. Based on the dyno sheet from the 1703 as 'timed' for the L2501, I didn't expect much difference, but wow, big difference from my perspective. I...

Best rope for bringing trees down

I used this line to bring down 37 55’ norway spruce trees last fall to clear a spot for my pole barn: https://amzn.to/3soyEop All but 2 came down in exactly the direction we were tugging from. We tied the rope up about 12’ on the trees and my buddy kept tension on them from the seat of my...

    Backhoe bucket hooks

Personally I like the weld-on shackle mounts. Lower profile and less likely to get damaged. I just put a shackle on it if I need to lift something. If I'm pulling, I use an axle strap on the casting at the base of the backhoe down low

    BH77 backhoe concern

Yep, I bet it's this. I had to both tighten the rod connections and stack washers under some points on the plates to get good function on mine. For me, it was the bucket curl. It closed fast and opened at a snails pace.

    Yard Cleanup Bucket for L-series

Yeh, that's pretty much my application as well. You're also making me feel good as I've got ~2.5 acres and some folks think an L is too much machine, but I like everything it does :)

    Yard Cleanup Bucket for L-series

I want a brush grapple eventually too, but most of this is smaller stuff that will just fall through. Don’t have front hyd. yet either.

    Yard Cleanup Bucket for L-series

Already have a set of forks and considered repurposing some ibc totes, but i cant pickup mulch in them, and the bucket is surprisingly cheap locally. $550 for a 66”, and $600 for a 72”. The forks also reduce my dump height by a bit vs. the bucket.
