BX's house gets a new ceiling

Thanks! Getting that H-beam in place wasn't laughing matter... The solution we finally came up with was to cut a hole in the wall (the 3-foot thick walls are built up from slate held together with clay - no mortar anywhere), then, with the contractor's truck-mounted crane, slide the beam inside...

BX's house gets a new ceiling

Thank you! The tower was built during the Spanish occupation. It came with a well (over which in the 17th century the house was built) marked "water for men and horses" on old military maps, and which I still use to cool wine... 😚 If ever I have time (retirement is 3 years away, but I have a...

BX's house gets a new ceiling

It's free for the taking if you can come and collect... But believe me when I say it looks better than it really is. Most of the joists are sagging and half rotten, and the main beam is not much better. I didn't WANT to replace it, but in the end, after a discussion with my carpenter...

BX's house gets a new ceiling

Thank you - nothing is too good for the BX! Although I must admit that it will also house all the attachments, a trailer and a '79 Monte Carlo... And yes, 3" wide.

BX's house gets a new ceiling

My BX is housed in the remaining two bottom floors of a 16th-century guard tower (there are still some firing slits) that had been used as a stable for the last three centuries. The roof was redone 40 years ago, and I already had the dirt-and-cobblestone floor replaced with concrete in 2018, so...

    B2650 Cab Noise Reduction

Utterly wrong of course. Go and tell that to operators of big machinery... Driving an old 4x4 MF 595 is fun, but as far as operator comfort and precision goes, the HST is unbeatable. Greetings from Belgium (and my HST-equipped BX231)

    Choosing a used tractor

I'm across the Channel from you, with a BX231 and 3 acres. Considering what you are going to use it for, the B2400 sounds right to me. And yes, the HST makes life a lot easier when mowing.

    Anyone a cattle farmer?

You are most welcome. My neighbors are two single brothers, both retired from farming, who still raise some cattle just for the fun and love of doing it. The cows are strictly grass and hay fed, and taste delicious...

    Anyone a cattle farmer?

I love the sound of cows grazing... However, if that big-ol-boy was in my yard, I'd pay attention. Can't see if there's anything swingin' 'tween his legs, but there's been several folks killed by bulls around here over the years. A friend was beaten up real bad by a "little" Jersey bull 20...

    Anyone a cattle farmer?

I'm not a cattle farmer, but this being cattle country, they are all around (and sometimes get in the garden). I like them as neighbors: they walk over and watch when I'm working outside, and their mooing and munching noises are very soothing.

    Antonio Carraro

Wow, what a huge generalization! You've had a bad experience, so European service and support is bad...? Sorry to say, but I, my neighbors, the farmers around the village and lots of farmers I know further away (have one in the family) are all very happy with the service and support they get...

    MY lucky day

Also, let's not forget that learning and discovering things are essential parts of our being humans: it's in our nature. Without that trait we'd still be living in caves, without even fire. And learning just for the learning (i.e. without any direct or indirect economic impact) is also a good...

    What's cookin' boys?

Asparagus, the way it has to be eaten: harvested before it comes through he surface and turns green and fibrous. Boiled in lightly salted water, then smothered in molten butter and finished with a bit of parsley. Divine!

    Drive it or trailer it?

And if you take to the road, apart from the SMV placard, mount an orange flashing or rotating light on top of your ROPS. In several European countries that's compulsory, and it increases visibility a lot.
