    hillside stability

Not much. I just remove the complete loader. Takes 5 minutes and I much prefer to mow with the loader Off!!! More stable with FEL off... I also need no extra weigh added to the front, like was said earlier in this thread.

    Weight of Kubota L3800 HST

Let's not forget, we are talking about pulling a rather small tractor. ;)

    FEL rating

It'll make a difference. Make sure you have 1000 lbs or so on the 3 pt!

    Weight of Kubota L3800 HST

Eric, I agree with all you said, but have you looked at the newer Tundras? They are a huge truck! Actually larger than I want in a Toyota. I like the older small Toyotas for fartin around in the woods, but I've always used a heavy duty 3/4 ton plus for hauling a heavy load. The Tundra meets...

    Running in 4WD

25 hours wont hurt anything. Took us 10 years to destroy the front end on our old L3750 doin loader work with no rear counter weight. But it is a much larger, heavier tractor than the L3800. Never gave any thought to 3 pt counter weight until I tore into the front end to see what broke. Only...

    Running in 4WD

Good idea! I use a box blade with about 500 lbs added. Or a deal I made to skid logs with, which will also take a bunch of old wheel weights. Even a bush hog is better than nothing.

My Kubota is a rice burner too!

    Running in 4WD

You need at least 500 lbs on the 3 pt hitch for any loader work!!!! 800- 1000 lbs is even better!!! Front wheel drive is only to asset in traction. You want the rear wheels doing most of the work. With no counter weight on the 3 pt your front wheels are doing most of the work and you will kill...

I pay no attention to those numbers.

Yes, but that was a Nissan. Not a Toyota! ;);):cool:

The Tundra is no Mickey Mouse toy and it is very capable, but I'd probably get a Ford myself.

    Fuel cost

It wasn't too many years ago diesel was cheaper than gas. Higher global demand and having to make it burn cleaner has driven the price up.

    New L4600 in Garage

Keep it in 2wd and it shouldn't tear up the ground too bad and don't turn real fast and sharp.

    Portable gas cans

The 'No Spill' brand cans do not leak at all. But I agree if you are talking about the cheap cans. They are junk!

    Portable gas cans

The No-Spill flows plenty fast for me and I have no problem holding the button down? The 5 gal can rest on the hood of my tractor until it gets down to 1/3 or so. I like em better than the old cans.

Picking up my L3800 HST in 2 hours!

I had 10 acres south of Tallahassee many years ago and a Kubota L245. Ag tires worked great down there in the sand. R-4s weren't an option back then. Your R-4s' do have a wider foot print, so they should do good, as long as you don't have much mud.

Picking up my L3800 HST in 2 hours!

You really need more than the weight of a mower on the 3pt hitch for loader work. I like 800-1200 lbs and something smaller than a mower. The counter weight will take considerable weight off the front axle and just make the tractor work better.

    Wisdom && Guideance L3800HST/MX4700HST

Seems high? Last I check here a MX5100DT w/loader was around 26k. I know the roof, HST and blade would add to it, but 10k? I remember a package deal here on the MX with loader/6' box blade/6' mower and 18' trailer for 29,995.00. This was earlier this year, so maybe they have gone up?

Picking up my L3800 HST in 2 hours!

Nice! I would have got Ag tires on it, but maybe the R-4s' will do good in the sand?
