    Newbie 1st tractor.

Kevin, I have a friend with two hot-rods. He has spent thousands upgrading and fiddling with those things. And all he can do is drive them! With a tractor, when you get it all up to speed, you can actually do stuff with the thing! And you will have way more fun than he has in his "showboats."...

    It had to happen sometime

Nothing like releasing a "shed load" of carbon into the cool winter skies! :) I am selling my rental house. We cut down three 50' pine trees and they left the trunk in 18" sections which have seasoned for the last 7 years. At least three quarters of that was left so I hauled it home for an...

    can you jump saftey switch?

SWITCH NOTE: I had a thread months back on my L3800 with a "chattering" starter. Replace the battery. Only got worse. Last week, on occasion, you'd turn the key and nothing would happen. This tractor was left sitting outside for four months by the previous owner. The battery was down quite...

    Spray Paint Color Match?

T-Man Beware the two colors! Kubota Orange I and Kubota Orange II. The older tractors are the Kubota I. The newer color is the Kubota Orange II -the "redder orange." In fact, my L3800 is painted with the Kubota II while the dash cluster surround (which come on the transmission frame from...

After market filters for L4600 HST

Daniel, Same reason the L3800 came without the right-hand hand-hold on the fender: $$$. They cut as many dollar corners on "frill" items as possible to compete with John Deere. All the inside stuff is fine. Even the Dino oil is great for break-in and in aircraft engines, its required for break...

    When to shut down

Shaun, I had the same problem. That was part of the reason my battery was down a lot: Frequent re-starts after the seat switch or HST switch shut it down for me. The trick on mine was the HST pedal switch. The pedal pivot got stiff and the pedal would hang in FWD or REV just enough to engage...

    General HST questions/ new owner

Honda, I have a slight hill right outside my barn. If I am heading up that grade, I am usually in high range. I rarely let my engine warm up more than 30 seconds or so. Cold, I have to have the engine up at 1800-2000 to make it up the hill without complaints. If I tip-toe up the hill in less...

    New Owner L245DT

Gerald, Congrats and howdy from Cave Creek, AZ. Smaller tractors have a fairly narrow track. If you load your Front End Loader (FEL) up with a bunch of weight, the rear wheels unweight. Think of a old time lab scale... the pivot point on your Kubota is the front wheels. This is another reason...

How do you get a 2wd to go in the snow?

With only 2WD, you are limited on slippery surfaces. As Hokie said, you will have to go steel but, isn't there a steel wire variant on the chain selection tree? I remember seeing some chains out here in AZ (yes, we need them in the winter getting up the hill to Flagstaff) that were made out of...

How often do you buy parts?

Bought a "crashed" 2012 L3800 so I spent about $500 in paint and parts getting it back together, bought through my local dealer. Like everyone else, I like to have consumables on hand. I bought filters and fluids and a few odds and ends, also to the tune of about $500, again from the dealer...

    Funny of the day

Animals are hilarious... My cats will watch "Cat TV" by low windows on my patio. They'll sit and watch birds for hours. They got their wish last week when a dumb pigeon came down our chimney. Cat chased it to the bedroom and then stood fixed, nose-to-nose with the tired bird, as if asking...

AM/FM headphones for music and protection.

Nice thing about the Howard Leight/Honeywells is, Howard Leight is an acoustic engineer fanatical about hearing protection. His headset will only go so loud. Plenty loud enough for comfortable listening but not so loud that it drowns things outside out. Definitely saves your hearing.

A little Encouragment To Go To Work Today

Just got this today... I am not much of a conspiracy nut but, when you start to look at some of the things uncovered as well as the "blue-screen" goofs made by the media, you gotta wonder. Grab a beer or a coffee and watch the first couple of videos. Chilling isn't strong enough of a word. The...

AM/FM headphones for music and protection.

I have used several varieties of headphones over the last decade and a half. Last year, Homey Depot had a closeout on Howard Leight AM/FM for $44. I grabbed a pair and fell in love with them. The batteries last forever, the sound quality is truly excellent and clear, and they cut out the ambient...

    Brown stink bugs

EddieBob, AWESOME idea. We have bats out here in Arizona but, evidently not enough to control the mosquito explosion this year. Wouldn't mind having a colony of bats in a few boxes around the property. Any chance you could take a couple photos of your bat condos and post them for us? Don't...
