New tractor, a bit disappointed in sticky range lever

If you haven't tried WD yet, get some spray lithium grease and get it wet on a couple sides. That stuff weeps pretty well when wet. Wipe off the excess and you should fine it much easier.

    Another new guy with questions.

Sheepfarmer, Lubing those takes some spray lithium grease (Home Depot). Shake up the can good first. You could use some of the "extra" loader grease but it would attract dirt and be a booger to clean when it got all "gumulated." The main areas are the pivots the lever rides on. Spray lithium...

New tractor, a bit disappointed in sticky range lever

My L3800HST has 187 hours... Range shifting is usually smooth. It occasionally hangs up and I have to move the gears slightly to get them to engage. Remember, except for your differential, the transmission gears in a tractor are straight cut. If there is no movement at all they should slip...

    right fenger handle

Sammy, I went back through the threads and couldn't find the one discussing that... Yup, I bought the right hand handle for my 3800. It was from the next bigger series... I wanna say a Grand. All the handles are the same bolt pattern I believe You just want to get the right-hand handle. I'll...

What do I need to know to repower my tractor

OUCH! That left a mark -or two. Any damage to the block or was it contained?

    3800 tractor

Not sure if some of those ideas would be safe on a moving machine... Howsabout turning off the start switch and letting the fuel shutoff valve close? No gas=no go. Works every time we shut our tractors down. (Same thing they teach in Drivers Ed.) Anyone who grew up playing with model...

    Transport box

Butt-kicking job Anders! You can haul all kind of stuff in that: tools, generators, small equipment, groceries, kids, dogs, and wood. You made a practical tool even more practical. Thanks for stimulating our imaginations by sharing your project in pictures. I want to start a similar project...

    Another new guy with questions.

Wax protects from oxidation which results from UV damage. My tractor sat in the high country Arizona sun for 9 mos and the loader arms upper surfaces are noticeably faded. The paint on our tractors is a one-coat process, unlike a car which has a base color coat and then a clear coat to seal in...

    ROPS bolts

MDHughes, Only takes a quarter of an inch to solve that problem. Bracket bends by hand. The real problem is the seat: It's flimsy and twists when you lean over.

    3200 vs 3800??

By the time you buy the handle (off a bigger model but the correct handle) and the nuts to go with it, you are going to spend close to $60. Reportedly, the reason the series doesn't come with a handle on the right side is because the lawyers didn't want users mounting and dismounting their...

What happened & what I tried: looking for wisdom & help

That's great you can see the bottom of your tank. In the L3800, the tank is so convoluted you can't see past the first corner. I have a CARB fuel tank spout deep in the innards of my tank and after an hour of trying to fish it out, I asked the dealer. He said it was probably diesel capable and...

They sell sleeves to build up your smaller CAT I pin to the CAT II or III lower clearances. Pop those on and you are good to go. Let us know how strong your frame is. Some have suggested they bend under heavier loads. I musta bought the last Pat's hooks! :)

Fro, New Finish is a silicone-based paint sealant that should have zero negative effects on powder coating. Two coats, within 30 days seals in the paint surface for about a year. If your tractor is shaded under a pole barn, you'll be set. Consumer Reports has consistently rated New Finish at...

    ROPS bolts

You probably could file them with no ill affect. One question I had for my dealer last week was regarding the ROPS with my nifty roof panel. (You gotta get one of those! Keeps you out of the sun and mostly out of the rain.) With nearly 200 hours on the machine, the ROPS hinge is fairly loose...

    Pats or Titan quick hitch

I ordered Pat's this week after scratching my head for a few days. I also ordered the draw bar spreader as it makes it even easier once you set up the spreader with marks for your implements. (White fingernail polish works great..) The quality control on the Titan is typical "Chickenese." One...
