    Kubota Z781KWI nightmare

I had it happen on the Kawasaki engine on my zero turn and it turned out to be to of the welch plugs on the carburetor had come out. A few bucks and some nail polish to seal in the replacements and no more issues for the last few hundred hours.

Household Appliance Maintenance: Share Your Successes and Failures

Dang the bad luck, 15 year old refrigerator stopped cooling last night, fridge only, freezer is fine (-2 degrees) so with a little bit of research online it looks like it could be one of three things. I ordered all three last night for less than $90 and should have them Saturday.... If this...

    Valve Stems

Yes it does, I may have slid into some ice/snow while clearing my mother in laws driveway a few years ago, kind of looked like someone ordered a lime snow cone when the antifreeze in the tire spewed out everywhere. No good deed goes unpunished, Dang it!

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Don't know what size motor you are lifting as that is a factor. I moved my 140hp Suzuki (approx 420#) several years ago very carefully with a floor jack on the skeg with it slightly trimmed to keep the weight towards the transom. No issues and was done in about 15minutes by myself.

Some jobs have more risk than others

Speaking of risk...I was watching these guys assembling a tower crane across the street today. They are about 200' off the ground here...The crane will grow as the building goes up supposed to be the tallest building in our area when done. I zoomed in on the last pic, see the guy reaching out...

    Retirement

I agree.......I had been on the fence for the last year or so myself. But like NCL, lost a brother-in-law and several other people/friends that were in their 50's and 60's. My middle management job has become more stressful with leadership that I do not agree with. To top it off I realized my...

    Retirement

Congratulations!! I am in the same boat and notified my employer that I am retiring at the end of the year as well. Seems funny to be passing off tasks and projects to the younger guys while stepping back and just watching. I know it will be weird as I have been working at something since I...

    Daily Chuckle

This one brought back some crazy childhood memories. I came from a large family with little money. We found lots of ways to entertain ourselves, one Saturday morning I bet and convinced by brother he could not fit in the dryer by trying to get in there myself.......and then after "promising I...

Some jobs have more risk than others

Back in 1980 and 19 years old I was making a whopping $4.10 per hour as a first year electrical apprentice at a power plant. We were working on installing a precipitator on a coal fired generator at a power plant I volunteered to help run the cable tray for the power up the side of the...

Lowes fires employee who had been with them for 13 years for trying to prevent shoplifting

It's sad to say but Lowes is not the only business turning their back on the shoplifter/looters. My wife has a friend who works for one of the large chain gas/convenience stores in the area. This teens come in on their way back from school and grab and go with impunity. She has been warned...

    Regen and 3 point questions

Like others have said, do not abort or avoid the regens unless absolutely necessary. Mine gets a fair amount of mowing this time of year which seems to get me over 30 hrs between regens as the tractor is running at pto speed for hours at a time. It can come at an inconvenient time but I choose...

    What's cookin' boys?

Grilled a couple of bison burgers, fresh corn, tomatoes, onions from the garden to finish it all off. Great evening with a little lower humidity so we ate out on the deck this evening.

    Happy Anniversary

My wife and I celebrated 40 year milestone last month down in Hatteras North Carolina. Definitely glad she has continued to put up with me! I was a boy from the suburbs that moved out to the country 39 years ago to be close to her parents and help on the ole farm place.

    What's cookin' boys?

This time of year we have a lot of garden meals. This one tonight consisted of fresh sweet corn, squash and potatoes, cucumbers and some sweet cherry tomatoes thrown in. Tomorrow I will make up for the lack of meat and plan to grill some peppers and onions, with a few brats and a couple of...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Took a gamble and purchased a plow point for my subsoiler to dig my potatoes. In this heat and humidity it was perfect vs digging them by hand. Two plow bolts and it was done! Hit 700 hrs on the tractor while doing it.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

You will not regret buying a good set of forks. I use the forks almost as much as the bucket. Off loading, on loading, poor mans grapple, etc.! The older I ge the more I like tools that save my body. I remember an older guy back when I was an apprentice saying that you will learn to work...

Anyone here own a boat, or know a lot about boats?

It's not apples to apples but on my 140hp Suzuki it greatly reduced the steering torque by adjusting the torque tab on the motor. It reduced it at slow speeds but eliminated it at higher RPMs. Here is a simple explanation I found online Just note where you are now and make slight adjustment...
