    sheep......

I raised sheep for 20+ years, but never on that scale. I wasn't long figuring out that it was better to con them than to chase them. They had free choice hay at all times, but I fed them Coarse 16 sweet feed twice a day. Not much, just enough for everybody to get a taste. They knew when...

    Pistols

You, Sir, are a scholar, a gentleman and a good judge of fine whiskey! My revolvers are a pair of S&W's, a 60 and a 66. My pistols are a pair of Sigs, a 226 and a 220. Grandson introduced me to Glocks when he bought a 17. As much as I've run my mouth making fun of "Teutonic Tupperware", I...

Unloading tractor from Trailer causes accident in PA

We call that "trailer surfing" around here. Here's what I did to prevent that particular Redneck Olympics event.

    Plow seasons a coming

At the moment, the maintenance bay of my garage is full of little projects. If everything goes according to plan (Hah!...) they'll all be gone in a week and I can get the Pronovost out of the back of the barn and prep it. Mostly what it needs is some sanding, priming and touchup paint.

Engine quits in forward or reverse

First suspect is the seat safety switch AKA operator presence switch. You have to have yer butt in the seat and be heavy enough to close the switch before the tractor will move.

    snow blower without live PTO

I blew snow with a 64" Pronovost Puma and a 750 John Deere for a LOT of years and we do occasionally get a bit of snow here in Maine. JD was gear drive, no live pto so it does require a bit of planning but once I got the hang of it, plugging the blower was a relatively rare occurrence. There...

How often do You do this....

Somebody beat me to one of the Mechanic's Guidelines (Run it down until it strips than back it off a quarter turn). Two more I picked up in 40+ years in the maintenance business: "Measure it with a micrometer, mark it with chalk and cut it with an ax." And, if you don't have a torque wrench...

    Kubota help

A picture would help ID the model, then someone could likely tell you where to look for the serial number which would help with the year.

Very nice, thanks for the pictures! Counting down from the top, what are the front implements in pictures 6 and 7?

What did you do to your Implement today

Put that new belt on the Landpride. Woooooo! First thing I noticed was that the idler arm is now as smooth as silk. With the old belt it was bouncing around like a 2 year old on a sugar high. Old belt must have had some broken strands. Dropped the mower 1/2 inch and it mows like a dream.

What did you do to your Implement today

That Landpride FDR1660 I bought is MUCH nicer than the old Deutz it replaced, but it wasn't perfect. All four tires were dry-rotted, so I ordered new tires from Amazon. Installing them was a bit of a circus, all of them were holding what little air was in them courtesy of about a gallon of...

Price Check Landpride FDR2572 Finish Mower

Found a nice FDR1660 on Craigslist. Looks nearly new, very minor rubbing on the paint is all. Tires dry rotted and will be replaced, but from the overall condition, I doubt it has 20 hours on it. Paid $900 or something less than half of the price of a new one. Mows nice! 'druther have...

New guy with a B2650 questions

I know they make a cylinder specifically for use as a hydraulic top link. However, before I knew any better, I used an ordinary double-acting cylinder as a top link and it works just fine. I run a 65" box blade with scarifiers behind my 2650 and I've had zero problems with it holding position...

To the OP, sorry you're having to put up with all the problems, but I'm SO glad I stayed with a 2650!

Price Check Landpride FDR2572 Finish Mower

Dealer responded to my emailed inquiry with $27xx and $35xx. Not gonna happen on my budget. The Duetz is still doing a decent job but is obsolete, can't find parts beyond generic blades and the belt. A used 1672 sounds good, I'll keep my eye out.

Thank you rkidd. That's a bit more spendy than I had anticipated. I'm mowing pasture land with my old Deutz, it's not lawn quality but it's not rough field either, been mowed 4-5 times per summer for years. Some sawgrass, maybe the odd small (less than 1 inch) tree branch hiding in the...
