    Tractor Stability

Bodes, I am in the VA Blue Ridge. I have rears filled, rears set out with spacers 3”, and carry wt on three point hitch. Seems fairly stable.

Looking for new tractor for 80th

Lookin good, Ralph! That blue shirt sure goes with orange. 80 no longer seems as old to me—I have a way to go still but my favorite brother in law just turned 80 and is in better shape than me.

    Engine damage from topping off?

I saw an article in Consumer Reports reminding that squeezing extra gas into a tank can in time damage an auto’s vapor recovery system and cause major problems. I realized I DO this—on my tractor. The pump seems to cut off otherwise so soon, with the diesel far below the full port. But do...

    Forum Names and Avatars?

Mossy Dell is a spring near Leesburg in SW Georgia, across from our farm when I was a boy. Ice cold, blue, a constant upwelling, surrounded by mossy oaks. A dell is a low place or valley, though that's not strict. The spring mesmerized me; it was both attractive and scary, all that force welling...

    Preventing water intrusion into fuel?

I dumped my bowl but saw no clear separation in it indicating water. JD has a red ring in the bottom of its fuel bowl in the 1025R that floats when there's water. Has anyone tried using one in a Kubota? It would be handy, easy to spot when it floats up from the bottom. Could not get out the...

    Preventing water intrusion into fuel?

I don't see a line in the bowl. But my manual says if dirt or water has entered the fuel system, to clean the bowl and filter periodically. Also to do so at 100 hours, which I am coming up on. For the price of a filter I'll probably just replace it—don't have much confidence in my ability to...

    Preventing water intrusion into fuel?

Excellent article! Thanks, PoTreeBoy. So far, no problems. But I haven't used the tractor in a couple of weeks, no snow to plow, and plan to empty the bowl in the next day or two. I have a filter too but didn't realize the rubber o-rings do not come with filters. So it's a minor risk of tearing...

6" Wheel Spacers. What's likely to break?

Dan, I got R14s so I wonder where they fall? Not sure the information you provided is in my manual.

    Preventing water intrusion into fuel?

When fueling up about 3 weeks ago at the corner station, a clump of snow fell into my fuel tank! The clump must've been somewhere above the nozzle, and I didn't see it until it fell. It sat before my amazed eyes for an instant between the nozzle and the rim of the tank opening. The clump was...

6" Wheel Spacers. What's likely to break?

Good point, SDT. When I configured my tractor on line, evidently I made a false assumption about spacers. I seem to have ended up with about 3" total of increased width. I'd assumed I could get 3" on each side and that my dealer had screwed up. But from what I have read since, spacers were...

    B2601 regrets?

I don't find mine tippy at all, and I live on top of a hill and there's little flatter land, with most slopes 20%. I do have the rear tires filled. And I ordered wheel spacers with mine. I thought I was ordering 3" spacers on each side, to really set the tires out, but seem to have gotten 1...

    Mountains/hills VS Flat Spaces

Henro, my paradise would be mountains in the distance and utterly FLAT where I live. I guess they have that in places out west . . .

    Mountains/hills VS Flat Spaces

What we grew up with is generally what we've imprinted on. I grew up on the flatlands of Georgia and Florida and love them. I now live in the Blue Ridge mountains. I LOVE the views of hills and mountains in the distance. I HATE living and working on slopes. That is getting worse as I get older...

    Kubota Quality

In the first year of owning my Kubota, I have had four setup issues, all related to the loader, of increasing severity. Here are the problems, in order: • loose hydraulic hose to left rear loader raise/lower cylinder. Spewing fluid, noticed day after delivery. • two less convenient loader...

Looking for new tractor for 80th

I have this tractor and didn't know angling the ROPS is an option! And I read the manual. Maybe I skipped over the safety boilerplate . . .

Ken, do you market that hand lever?

    Treadle Pedal reverse

As I said, it's taken me time to get used to reverse in the B2601. Not sure if my chock therapy helped weaken that stiff spring. There's information on this board about switching out the spring too.

    B2601 3ph lift holes

I bent my top link hitting the folded ROPS. Did not adust lift holes for arms or link but did adjust the lift lever [term?] farther forward to stop the top link just before it hits. Not sure my way was right. It does reduce lift height.

    R14 tire pressures

20 lbs all around, according to my salesman. This aligned pretty well with the chart in my manual.
