    B2601/B Series oil weight?

Yesterday my dealer was delivering a bush hog and I asked parts to bring me a quart of oil. I'd noticed that my B2601 has used a bit in break in. "I think these come loaded with 10w-30," I said. I was told, "15-40 only for diesels!" I know the owner's manual says either is okay. Messick's...

Breaking in B2601. What IS "full speed"?

River, has yours used any oil during break-in? At 19 hours, I just put in over half a quart of oil. Don't know maybe it was a bit low when delivered, the oil is so clean it is still hard to read it. No leaks though. On lugging, I am running mine in Low range a lot because of my work and...

Adding mirrors so I don't have to turn in my seat!

Very cool, Frank! It is clear. I can see where the angle iron would be stronger. Glad that helps with the vibration. I wonder if a strip of adhesive rubber would help too. In any case, this is a great blueprint. It seems there is a market for a mirror kit, but I bet the issue is that there are...

Thanks again, Frank. I can't picture this angle iron mount though! If and when you get a chance, please post another picture!?

    B2601 vs B2650

An interesting thread to me, too, as the owner of a new B2601. I might have gotten a BX, so for my place and needs the B2601 was a step up and I didn't consider the 2650. After over 10 years without a tractor, mine seems plenty large. Not sure if my adjustment would feel as great if I'd kept...

Land Pride QH15 and the bargain deal Ag Supply Adapter for a Scraper Blade.

Nice. I THINK your hook is designed to snag that forked adapter. Might save you some time if you don't have to take the hook off.

Adding mirrors so I don't have to turn in my seat!

Thanks so much, Frank! So those are some stout pieces of steel if they are 1" thick! Do you think doubling or quadrupling the regular flat stock would achieve the same effect?

Adding mirrors so I don't have to turn in my seat!

Frank, this is so helpful. I'd LOVE mirrors on my new B2601 and am not very handy. I think I could do this, however. But is there any chance you have the link for the exact mirrors you bought?

    Break in period

To wrap this up with my bottom line takeaway, I bumped my speed up yesterday. I did stay in the red operating area. Based on the wisdom in this thread and my former experience, I don't think speed per se is much of an issue. I think it's load. I wish instead of warning about never running at...

    Break in period

Great advice. Get this break-in story. When my wife got a new Subaru in 2014, the range selector was different. All the way down is Drive, but pulled toward you from Drive it is Low. Which felt right to her, dragging the shifter into that notch. She drove it in Low for hundreds or maybe more...

    Break in period

Thanks so much, Hagrid. I guess the smaller the tractor the more rpms needed for 540 rpm and working operation. Until the tractor tops out . . . I bet mine tops out before 3,800 if its working rpm is advised as 2,800. Basic stuff. But I have been away from tractors for 12 years and forgot a lot...

    Break in period

Thanks, GeoHorn. It sounds like my 2,800 red area will be pretty close to full speed. I am going to honor the "no full throttle" at least during break-in. But I bet it makes no difference good or bad to the engine. Does make me wonder why the manual is so conservative. Especially if the range...

    Break in period

So somewhere above the red mark on my tach that indicates the machine's rated working speed of 2,800 rpms (and 540), is a request for full speed? Makes sense, if so. But my tach does not stop till 4,000 rpm. Surely the tractor can't achieve that. I just wonder how far above 2,800 is likely the...

Trailering accident - Any idea what happened here?

Momentum was not his friend? I have no plans to tow my tractor but, thinking of bringing a new bush hog home myself, went down the Youtube trailering rabbit hole for a few days. It seems there's a reason related mostly to forward momentum why fore and aft tie downs are most important...

    Break in period

Same question for you, Hagrid! I think Kubota is saying the rated speed is fine to work the tractor at, but beware of full speed, at least during break in. I just wonder—in your BX23, for instance, how far below max is the rated working speed in your experience?

    Break in period

Thanks, mcfarmall. So in your M series, how many rpms above the tractor's rated rpms is pegged out?

    Break in period

This is a great thread and I wish I had found it instead of basically duplicating it with my own questions about breaking in my B2601. Still, my basic question remains unanswered about what full speed means in terms of rpms. I know it means the throttle is wide open, but how far above rated rpms...

Breaking in B2601. What IS "full speed"?

My manual for my new B2601 gives this information about the break-in and post break-in: Don’t operate at full speed [big emphasis]* Don’t operate faster than necessary* “Applies to all tractors but especially important for new tractor.” What IS full speed in this tractor? The tractor's rated...

    72" brush hog on a L3301

I pulled a 6' King Kutter for 10 years with my old 33 hp John Deere 970. Did great in heavy grass and weeds. I did not cut trees or much heavy brush. Then I got the pictured Deere branded cutter and it didn't do as well! The gear box started leaking oil immediately.

    Inflation change for loaded tires?

Right, it's probably there. I am pretty sure the max inflation exceeds what I'd use though. My experience with my Kubota dealership is very mixed, but it appears the salesman gave me pretty good advice on inflation! Now I have to check it . . . The tires seem VERY inflated so i do need to put...
