Gun Handling, What Am I Missing?

I was handed many thousands of firearms over my 20 plus career as a Gunsmith/retail shop/indoor range owner. I ALWAYS checked the loaded/unloaded condition regardless what the person handing the firearm said to me. Often times it was “don’t worry, it’s unloaded”. Some people took offense that...

Photo shoot anything lately? Random Photo Thread

Yesterday was scouting for a good spot to set a ground blind on my property for possible cross bow hunting next fall. Had this close encounter with this doe and young buck about a half hour before sunset. The doe was as close as 5 yards, the buck 4 yards. Both were well aware of me sitting in...

    Rear Blade Size

Agree with everyone above! :). I bought a 6 foot used blade for my then new to me little B7100 figuring I would cut 6 inches off each side if it was too much. Over ten years later removing central Wisconsin snow on my driveway and my neighbors I still run the full 6 foot.

    L2501 tuned down...? Dealer stated...?

"Please, this is not a debate on whether it should be done, can be done, or whatever....I am asking to see if anyone has actually made this modification as multiple dealers nationwide have agreed that it is tuned down and can be tuned up but due to liabilityies etc....they can not direct on how...

    Whitetail buck on trail cam

This camera is a Browning defender 850 wireless. Not a cellular but has WIFI. I thought it would be neat to download pictures on my iPad without touching the camera. Problem is the download speed is really slow compared to pulling the card and using a card reader with my iPad. The other issue...

    Whitetail buck on trail cam

i would think your spot on. Not too many bucks around my land make it to 3 1/2 years with the long archery season, special hunts, local hunting pressure etc. My first buck off my property in the fall of 2019 might have been 3 1/2 or perhaps even 4 1/2 years old. A 12pt with drop tine.

    Whitetail buck on trail cam

I do have a small population of bears on the place. Mostly active spring to early summer. Knock on wood none of my cams have fallen victim YET. :) I host a WI DNR camera (Snapshot WI program, interesting in its own right) and they offer a bear proof (sure! lol) kit if requested.

    Whitetail buck on trail cam

This is a fun time of year as the whitetail population becomes more active. This buck does not seem to care that the oak tree he seems to be licking (licking branch) and scrapping with his front hoof has a trail cam plainly exposed.

Photo shoot anything lately? Random Photo Thread

Spent some time scouting yesterday evening for our upcoming deer hunt in Nov. Any thoughts as to this button buck? Light was failing me so not a great picture. Just seems like a odd color and shape for what I am used to when I see "button bucks".

    Cell phone providers

I also use a Tracfone. I buy 400 (actually 800 minutes as they ran a double minutes for life of the phone deal) minutes good for 12 months. As long as I purchase new mintues before the end date I keep my number and un used minutes roll over. I have over 6000 minutes banked! Lol. My cost...

Work continues on the shooting range.

A friend helped with getting a coat of paint on the shooting bench enclosure. She did the ladder work trimming while I rolled the cream color on. I tried color matching the paint with the metal on the tractor shed. Pretty close on the green, the cream seems a bit whiter but to be fair it will...

Here is a picture of the bench the day I brought it home before taking it to the land. You can shoot from either the right side or left. As far as wood benches go I find it to be rock solid. I did want to thank everyone for the comments, suggestions and pictures of their ranges! I might...
