Securing Pitman Arm to Steering Box - This doesn't look right

I had thought the same when I took delivery of my L2501. The dealer's service tech was at my house for a tie rod related issue and and checked the nut and said this is a normal condition.

Hobby Farm - Seed Drill Options?

I have had two projects "drilled" for native/pollinator mixes. Both drills had boxes setup for the extremely fine and fluffy seeds that some species have.. Are you member of Pheasants Forever by any chance? Our local chapter owns a drill set up for natives species and I was able to borrow it...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I dug 280 foot of trench this morning, installed the drain pipe and back filled.

    Field Borders?

Deleted as LarryBud clarified as I was typing. 😀👍 LarryBud, I am curious, have you decided on a pollinator seed mix yet? If so, how diverse is it? Will you be frost seeding it or will you "drill" the seed late fall before the ground freezes? When I applied herbicide to kill off "cool season"...

    Field Borders?

Since you mentioned that you will be planting pollinator species have you talked with anyone about the possibility of conducting prescribed burns? if so, you might want to get specific advice on your borders from the fence to the native planting. Very often these boarders will act as your fire...

    ROPS Quick Attach Pin

Just a thought. These are hardened quick release axles that do come in 5/8 inch dia. although the most common size is 1/2 inch. This type of quick release is pretty full proof as long as the hole is sized correctly. Here is a link to a company that supplies many types of QD pins in a variety...

One of the benefits of planting natives at my house here is that I can sit on my deck and enjoy sites like this Eastern Tiger Swallowtail feeding on Wild Bergamot.

What do you do with the trails you maintain?

Styling of a piece of equipment has never been a top priority to me but I think Kubota got the overall proportions and "looks" of these little tractor spot on. I also attached a screen shot with my trails that I have made and maintain on my habitat restoration property. The photo of my...

What do you do with the trails you maintain?

Thanks for the kind comments! This B7100 has been a pretty good tractor. Normal issues a lot of these have. Dynamo bearings went out, seat pan cracked and replaced , radiator rebuilt and a few other more minor troubles over the years. Purchased used in 2010 (800 hours) now has 1300 hours.

Neat! Always great to find interesting species hanging around. Do you know what species is he? I have found a few blue spotted Salamanders on my place.

What do you do with the trails you maintain?

One of the things I did with my trails this summer was getting my Grandson his first tractor seat time. 13 years old and very responsible and best part listened to every word as far as safety and the operation. I hooked up the landscape rake as I did not want to overwhelm hm with a implement...

setting cut height on flail mower

I will admit common mullion is the least objectionable of the non-natives in my prairie restoration efforts. I think it is so common in North America now it's considered naturalized? Besides as you mentioned bees I find that gold finch's favor the seeds. The reason that I would rather it not...

setting cut height on flail mower

I also used Glyphosate and Milestone early site wide to get a jump start before the site wide fall seeding using a Great Plains drill set up with 3 boxes. Have you considered spot spraying with a backpack sprayer? While I am not able to do this work myself I have had several spot spraying...

setting cut height on flail mower

Gary, I also would be very interested in replies. I have 28 acres of native forbs and grasses that have been planted and deal with ragweed, mares tail, common mullion and a few others. The advice given to me was to mow as early in the growing season as possible, high, due to a lot of the...

    Open faced tractor shed project

Thank you so much for the kind words! This turned out to be one of my more enjoyable contracted projects. I feel very fortunate to have been put in contact with the builder I chose for the job. I have received a quote and scheduled the gutter guy. That should happen in a week and half or so...

Photo shoot anything lately? Random Photo Thread

I shot these pictures in my backyard prairie planting. Besides my 56 acres that is going thru a habitat Oak savanna restoration, a year and half ago I ripped out perfectly good lawn at my house (about a 1/4 acre) and planted natives. I am curious to know if others have decided to cut less...

I keep a Sony 57 and a Sony 77 in my Jeep most of the time. The Barred owl picture was taken with the 57. I also normally have a iPad Pro with me , I use it at my land for downloading trail cam pictures instead of swapping cards. As good as phone and tablet cameras are , IMHO, they just do...
