Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

I appreciate what you write about reminders about safety. I had a friend who was a know-it-all, so his comments about things I already knew came across as nagging, but your comments will make me more open about thinking of safety conversations as an ongoing thing to keep it all fresh in our minds.

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

I have no plans to get a 3PH trailer hitch, but thanks for the warnings. It never hurts to be reminded of how things can go wrong and why. With all those leaves you must have a ridiculous leaf mulch supply.

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

Thank you. This was actually the piece of information I was trying to get when I originally posted. Once I get the new hitch balls I'll report back as to which one fit my plate.

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

Ah yes, the top link ... I really want to put hydraulic top and tilt on at some point. "I hardly ever make anything worse" ... OMG can I carry your lunch box for you? o_O

How to improve the snow pushing capabilities of a front end loader

Thanks for sharing! I have a BX, no money to buy any more implements ... but I have scrap plywood and a saw!

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

OH I've had the BH off a few times. I have a place for it down by my well-head. Everything is rough gravel though ... no garage or concrete pad ... not for a while. Usually I keep the BH on the tractor and only take it off when I want to wreck my driveway with the box blade I don't know how to...

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

ok damn all of you bullies ... I just ordered two hitch balls ... one has a 5/8" shank and the other has a 3/4" shank ... if one of those doesn't fit I'm giving up. I also got on the wait list for a Ai2 receiver hitch. oh, and thanks ;)

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

Thanks ... maybe I gave up a little too quickly  Oh, I just found a 2" ball called a "ATV/Lawn Tractor Hitch Ball" that has a 5/8" shank I bet that's what I need.

If I had a welder and a drill press it would be a great project!

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

I like the look of the Ai2 receiver plate ... too bad they're out of stock. I like the large radiused cutouts for rear-tie-downs. https://bxattachments.com/product/rear-receiver-hitch-and-tie-down/ The redline one is also interesting...

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

If I was just going to tow around a yard I would be more positive on the BH approach. I want to have as small a package as I can get, so I can go anywhere the tractor can go. This is why I'd really like to mount the chipper on a carry all.

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

You crack me up. Thanks man. I think though the bloom is off the rose on this idea and I should just get a proper receiver plate. I need to think about the bxpanded backhoe mounted receiver. I have their quick attach system but I'm not thrilled about pulling things around with the backhoe ...

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

Yeah I remember when I was looking for a 3PH kit you mentioned you had one sitting in a box ... but it wasn't going to work trying to buy it from you and have you ship it, so I bought one from Coleman. Usage patterns, defined by inter-arrival times, are random, leading to spikes in demand and...

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

I finally got to my tractor yesterday.... Wildfires have kept me away for a while.... The threaded rod on my 2" hitch ball doesn't fit in the hole in the stock plate. Lol. Not entirely surprised. The chipping season is winding down for me, so I'll have all winter to consider all of the...

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

Thanks for the picture! Always nice to see what people have actually done. My tractor doesn't have a drawbar. It's a BX23S, with a backhoe. But there is a bracket with a hole in it ... I'm hoping the hole is sized so I can use it to mount a trailer hitch ball, which is the question that started...

anybody running a "secondary air filter" on their BX?

True that. I try to avoid using Amazon anyway. But I do like being able to ship to one of their dropstores so I don't have to worry about porch pirates.

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

I've heard the tiop about putting your hands at 6 o'clock, but the trailer is so short and low I can't see it! I know I could put fiber glass poles on it but I rarely have to back up. And I'm not too proud just to unhook the trailer, reposition it and the truck and get on with business. Having...

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

I wish I knew how to back up with a trailer! Having said that, a short thing like my chipper, which I can't even see behind my truck, is hardly a fair fight. I might have to borrow my neighbor's trailer and see how bad I am at it.
