    Problem keeping BX2380 running

Leaving an engine running in the garage is a great way to get carbon dioxide poisoning.

    Problem keeping BX2380 running

What do you mean "it is the PTO" ? Because the thing you circled in blue in the picture you posted is part of the three point hitch, not the power take-off. I suggest you try writing without using the word "it"...seriously...it will make it a lot easier for us to help you. Also, it's time to...

Volvo VCS coolant in a BX25?

And I was just starting to feel ok about not having $20 IBC totes 😢

Volvo VCS coolant in a BX25?

Today I learned that I'm glad I never found a bunch of IBC totes to store firewood in because my BX23S wouldn't have been able to lift them on forks. Pretty effing brilliant of you to use the bottle as a rain cover. I never would have thought of that.

Volvo VCS coolant in a BX25?

Color me jealous! I thought about using IBC totes for firewood a couple of years ago, but I haven't found a local source anywhere close to that price. What a score.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Oh yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about now. I have a small gas-powered towable DR chipper and have read the instructions on checking and adjusting that.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Looks like you dogged a bullet. Hearing the sound of the casting break must have been a heart-stopper. What do you mean by "check the bed gap"? Is that the front-to-back movement, parallel to the shaft axis of rotation? Like what a thrust bearing would adjust? Also, my condolences. --eric

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Today I continued using the box blade on my driveway, future maintenance area and future flower garden ... mostly using the rippers to loosen the soil and bring larger rocks up to the surface. Then I mounted my new landscape rake to see what it could do. It's a very useful tool. I am realizing...

    Kubota oil

Ralpha-- I've been looking at your VB code and some of the other viscosity calculators out there. This morning I started writing my own version in R. I have a couple of questions about the code you posted: 1) There's a comment in your code about calculating viscosity differently for cs...

    Kubota oil

Glad I have access to the code for the viscosity calculator ... I'm learning a software tool (r/shiny) and this gives me a simple calculator to mimic.

The attached file contains the javascript for the Widman calculator that Hokie is using, in case you're curious. It's not very good code, btw.

    BX 2380 throttler/power lever question

Here's a Link to the YouTube playlist ... 47 videos Excellent series by Jim Pytel. I'm really quite chagrined that I forgot one of the basic things I learned, (pump speed affects flow, not pressure) which lead to @Dieseldonato correcting me. Jim Pytel has a bunch of videos on all sorts of...

    BX 2380 throttler/power lever question

Hmmm, I actually was aware of that (I watched an entire 43 episode series recently on hydraulics). Next time I have a bucket full of rocks, I'll have to pay more attention to what's actually going on. Thanks!

    BX 2380 throttler/power lever question

Oh yeah ... forgot that little tidbit. So why does it seem like I have to increase the engine speed past a certain amount before the FEL will lift a heavy load? Am I just misperceiving what's actually happening?

    BX 2380 throttler/power lever question

The engine runs the hydraulic pump, so increasing the engine speed increased the volume per time that pump can supply to whatever hydraulic device is using it, be it the transmission, front-end loader cylinders, etc. I have a BX23S, so it has a backhoe, and I can definitely tell the difference...

    Determining bevel gear clearance

I think this is what I meant but honestly not 100% sure. Sounds similar to the speed of a wave travelling through water. The wave has a speed, but the water is only moving up and down. Speaking of water metaphors, I think this is about as deep as I can go in this round. Thanks for an interesting...

    Determining bevel gear clearance

Actually, I think the thickness of the film gets to the very heart of the matter. Surfaces are not flat ... they may be "globally" flat, but there is always a grain structure/roughness (think about scraping techniques to make surfaces flat). So the the thickness of the oil film and the...

    Determining bevel gear clearance

Got it. I was coming from the perspective of "how does the gear design affect the required properties of the lubricant", and you were more about "what's happening to the gears assuming that the lubricant is working". @TheOldHokie you posted an empty reply to my post. I look forward to reading...
