anybody running a "secondary air filter" on their BX?

I started gathering prices on some basic maintenance parts last night. I dropped Amazon after seeing how much more expensive things are there. It appears that there's an updated oil filter part number. (from Messicks) Issaquah is my local dealer...I haven't gotten a price from them on the...

anybody running a "secondary air filter" on their BX?

I only have about 70 hours on my tractor, and I've changed the air filter once already, so I think I'm in good shape if I get on it and get that insurance soon!

anybody running a "secondary air filter" on their BX?

I did a bunch of work in dusty soil during the summer without one, so now of course I am thinking of getting one now that the rains have come. Better late than never

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

Almost worth buying just to have in case!

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

Yeah my chipper is like that one except it's an older model that has the discharge port on the front rather than the top. The discharge chute on the new models are really nice because they're open, so clearing a jam would be super simple. Mine has a closed chute and when I was first learning how...

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

It's a small towable DR Chipper ... can't remember the specific make, but it's light enough I can move it around by hand as long as I'm not going up hill or over bumps. My desire to use the carryall is to end up with a compact setup that doesn't involve towing. Then I can just go wherever I want...

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

I bought a 2" hitch ball at Harbor Freight a couple of nights ago for $9. Next time I'm at my tractor, I'll drop the backhoe and hopefully fit it into the hole in the existing bracket. Hopefully that will address my immediate need, which is being able to position my little chipper without having...

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

I had forgotten about the bolt-on receivers that clamp to the FEL. That might be handy to have one of those, and they aren't very expensive.

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

The carryall will allow me to get the chipper to places where I would have difficulty towing it. Plus, the mounting will position the chipper outfeed to the side, which would be ideal. But in the meantime, I just want to put a ball on the existing frame so I can see how that works and get the...

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

Yes, I had my eye on that receiver too.

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

Thanks for the pictures! They make BX-specific receivers that have all the holes pre-drilled. I don't mind buying one but prefer to spend the $100 towards a 3PH carryall that I can eventually mount the chipper on sideways. If I can come up with a way to quickly transfer the chipper from its...

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

I do have a 3PH but I haven't gone to any quick hitches yet. My chipper is light enough to move by hand, so I would be surprised if I have trouble coupling/uncoupling it, but I consider myself warned! At this point just being able to position my chipper with my tractor would be a big improvement...

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

Thanks for the warning. I already have two hitches for this chipper. When I bought it I wasn't sure how much drop I needed so I bought two. I'm planning on transferring the spare ball over to the tractor.

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

My chipper is a little towable Dr Chipper that I can move by hand with a little effort. So I don't think I need to worry about lifting the front end. But you do make a good point about towing with heavier tongue weights. Do you know if I can put the trailer ball right in the factory ball plate...

Mounting a trailer hitch ball on the rear of a BX23S

I want to be able to tow my wood chipper and a small trailer around with my BX23S, with the backhoe removed. There's already a plate on the back, and I think there's centered hole in it. I've seen this plate referred to as a "ball plate", which makes it sound like it's designed to have a hitch...

A beveled backhoe bucket is beautiful

That's clever. Definitely something to keep in mind if I run into this problem on my BX23S.

    Problem keeping BX2380 running

Well this is cool because I am getting ready to change out the fuel filters on my BX. I watched a youtube video on bleeding the fuel system and the presenter cracked open the connection where the fuel line connects to the fuel rail (or whatever it is) and then turned the key to "ON". I guess...

    Problem keeping BX2380 running

Owner's manual states: "If the fuel line is removed, be sure to properly bleed the fuel system." hmm ... i just looked up the procedure and it basically says "fill the tank and turn the switch to 'ON' for 30 seconds"

    Problem keeping BX2380 running

Matt--that's interesting ... I wasn't aware about BX's tendencies for clogging fuel outlets. Is this all BXs, including the 80 series? What causes that? Also, I like your theory about the system's not being bled after the fuel filter change.
