Ford - the funny thing is the last batch I made was before you were born.

I’m still surprised that I remember that recipe, but I made it every Sunday morning for several years. Sometimes 2 or 3 times.

Was part of a Baked Chicken Buffet. I think $2.95/person when I started cooking it.

Had one time I did 13 tour buses of patrons plus normal trade of 400 or so.

Seems like I fed about 1,500 people in a couple hours.

My FIL used to “hunt” mushrooms. Nice Italian fellow, and we got along great.

He passed just before we got married and before he taught me about them. (He didn’t pass because a 6’4” redneck former farm boy was joining the family 😉)

Weather sucks this weekend.....cool and rain.

Chicken and Biscuits on the menu.

From 40+ years ago, still remember this recipe for buttermilk biscuits:
  • 66 cups flour
  • 2# baking powder
  • 4.5 oz salt
  • sugar - a handful
  • 30 eggs (unusual for biscuits)
  • 5-7 quarts buttermilk
  • 5# shortening
I rolled them about 5/8-3/4" thick and cut into ~2.5" circles. Panned them so they touched all sides....

Raised to ~2.5" high in oven....real tall and tender. People drove 50 miles for those things.

I made about 1,000,000 of them, literally.

We probably won't use that recipe for the Mrs. and I....... ;)
Sounds pretty great, maybe I could divide by 33.....although I've heard it doesn't quite work that way with baked goods..

Not our cooking but today we had lunch at the Round Table.

I don't know how common this is in other areas but it is the "old time" "boarding house" way of eating here. Take a dish, serve yourself and place it back on the center turntable.

The table almost ready for the next group.

Totally foreign to me, but that’s really slick.

Seldom see large round tables in my antique knowledge. That looks quite cool.

Largest Lazy Susan I’ve ever seen.

Really neat!

Thanks for sharing!👍

They have 4 dining rooms and tables. Two were in operation at today's lunchtime.

It is quite a neat operation giving the diners a choice of 4 different meats, too many veggies to count, 4 desserts, plus the breads. There is no ordering anything nor limit as to how much you eat. $18 per person. The table probably seats 16 people.
