Those look awesome. If you make them again, would you do anything different the 2nd time. I have started to make them a few times myself, but I am able to get authentic Mexican homemade from a co-worker`s mom for 12 bucks a dozen and they are great, so I don`t bother with trying to make them.
next time I will prep the meats/filling the day before and at least double the masa, maybe triple.would you do anything different the 2nd time
Love some red beans and rice! Unfortunately nobody else in my house does so I don’t make em very often.View attachment 74292
Red Beans and Rice tonight. Lotsa poots in dat bowl.
Sounds tasty! I haven't made a Crescent roll recipe in ages, nor ever eaten King cake, but this would be great comfort food for snowy weather. Too bad I already made my pre blizzard grocery store run! Have everything but Crescent rolls. With all of the Mardi Gras activity going on we finally decided to make a King Cake. Yup the colors are Green, Gold, and Purple. Instead of the traditional King Cake, we chose to make muffin size. Well, she bought the large instead of the small crescent rolls so they were too large to fit into the muffin pan. They ended up about the size of "honey buns".

She flattened the crescent rolls out, coated them with a cinnamon/sugar mixture and added the cream cheese filling. She then rolled them up and made a sorta pinwheel.

They were supposed to go in a muffin pan, but they went on a cookie sheet instead.

They looked good enough to eat when they came out of the oven, but they got icing instead.

First they got a glaze, and then the colored sugar for the traditional King Cake look.

Glaze: 1 C. Powdered Sugar, 1 tbl sp Lemon Juice, 1 tbl sp Water.
This is not something to cook, but rather to eat but....... View attachment 73230
This can of Vienna Sausage was one wiener short.
Hah! I've been doing a little research myself. I've picked up a few different brands also. Starting with the cheapest. (I haven't found Libby's yet). That's yellow grits with salt and butter. After Magicman uncovered what could be the "Vienna Sausage Scandal of 2022", I've decided to expand my investigation.....
I've "investigated" 2 or 3 cans per week. Different brands, different stores. No one can predict where I'll be looking and sampling……but it will be within 10 miles of my house. Stealth is still important.
This one checks out. I may check another from the “evidence locker” during the Syracuse basketball game…
Oh, don't tell my wife....this is veryconfidential among us and everyone else on the interwebs.....
