Covid In Maine today....9 new cases. The lowest number we've had in 2 months. BUT tomorrow Maine is open. Dine In Dine Out Mask Or No Mask. We'll see what happens to our numbers by July 4th.
And Canada. Boarders still closed till July 21th. I do a small amount of business with Canadians. Not a lot but maybe $10,000. in orders a year from them. I have had a couple inquiries from New Brunswick but again both mentioned 'when the boarder opens' I'll be down. Maine does a lot of business with Canadian tourist also. But not this year I guess.
Im sure they will go up a little. But time to get back to some normalcy.

Could you guys knock it off? Sounds like a bunch of children. It is fine to have an opinion, it is not helpful to keep on and on and on sniping at other forum members. This thread is about covid, and trying to provide helpful information and commentary from different perspectives.
Youre right BUT im still going to call his a$$ out when I see fit.

I've notice that phenomenon as well. I'm thinking that they didn't really think it through all that well. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣

Or too well. Early on when we were on complete lockdown I had to take first one and then the second dog in for emergency surgery. Vet meets you in parking lot and takes the dog. Had only 3 paper masks that tied. Easier to put on in the house when my hands were still clean than try to put on in a parking lot with the dogs in the car. Ever tried to help get a sick dog out of the car and keep a 6 foot distance? Those vets that stayed open were real heros. A friend made me a couple of cloth ones with elastic ties and so the mask can be slid down when not needed so I don't need to drive in one any more.

On a more serious note there is a real need for disposable comfortable effective masks. My 3 paper ones were left over from some my neighbor gave me that her hospital was throwing out a couple years ago, and they are way more comfortable than cloth ones. Looked them up and they can't be bought these days. 😞

Masks? I can find all kinds of paper masks but still no N95s. We use them working outside when the air is heavy with smoke from forest fires. I wonder why factories can not gear up for N95s. I know 3M was making them. Still have a few from last season. They have an exhale check valve built-in.

B&H PHoto has all kinds of masks and other stuff online. They have N95 masks as well in bulk packs or individually, washable ones too. My wife made me a couple triple layer ones that I use and wash afterwards.

No vet issues here Sheep. The guy I cut hay for is a Vet. if we have an issue with the pups, I take them to his house. I have a feeling you probably know of him.

I looked for the ones I liked, and they are in the 3M catalogue, but everywhere I tried to see if I could order said backordered. Or wanted an exorbitant price. I thought a scam.

Might give them a try. Reputable company, I have bought photo stuff from them. They did have a disclaimer though so may need a little more research.

I may have to dig out my respirator I used for spraying finishes on my woodwork. Stopped all orders and kept me from getting goofy. Hot and heavy though. I would look up and the whole shop was fog and no odor. Maybe better than paper masks. Where I live only 30 percent mask up. Some look at me like I am nuts. I look at them like they are nuts.o_O the respirator thing might be fun!

I find it amazing that people still think that these masks are protecting them from anything other than fresh air.

Define "these masks"!

What most cloth masks do is effectively protect the people around the wearer from being exposed to his or her droplets exhaled especially when speaking. They are less effective at protecting you. In countries where everyone wears masks and observes social distancing the virus has been curtailed. The better designed masks also protect the wearer, but are either cumbersome or unobtainable right now, being reserved for health care workers.

I'll attach a reference from a non politically tainted journal later.

This is a paper from Nature Medicine. Nature is a British journal, refereed, a paper in that journal is an accomplishment. It was a study done before the pandemic, so when they use the term corona virus they mean the general family of RNA viruses.

I have tried to find out the total number of deaths in the US for Jan - May, 2020 . I would like to compare that number to the to total number of deaths for 2015 - 2019 by year. I was looking for the increase in death rate and avoid all the massaging of the numbers done by the government. In Jan of 2019 x number of people died in the US vs Jan 2020 the number of people that died and do it for each month. I do not care why they died. To track the impact of the virus without all the bs.

Good luck with that, everything is manipulated these days.

I have one in the shop as well. A 3M double cartridge mask that makes you look like some Frankenstein monster. It's bulky and fairly heavy too. Had it for years. No one in their sane mind would wear it out in public, or at least I don't think so. Great for spraying Isocynated catalyzed poly urethane. Keeps the junk out of your lungs.

I am thinking I may use my shop respirator..
Are Lacquer fumes bigger than virus bugs?
It fits nice when I plug the intakes I can not get air. It is ugly but 70 % of people in my area don't mask up. I do have spare filters for it also.

I am not sure of the correct answer for the masks designed for chemical filtration. It might not just be size, those chemical fumes are small alright, but the cartridges we used to use in the lab had something in them to absorb the fumes and were specific to the kind of chemical. You might find the answer about particle size for a particular one in the manufacturers data sheet. Can't imagine if they have some kind of paper covering over the absorbent substance that they'd be less effective than a bandana though.

Stray idle thought we should breathe through a dpf filter...:ROFLMAO:
