Still think one guy in New Rochelle, NY spread COVID-19 to NYC? Read on.

https://skift.com/2020/05/03/a-euro...eks-too-late-heres-a-timeline-of-the-fallout/
If I believed everything I read and fell for all the political contribution email I receive, one, I'd be broke and two, I'd be the most gullible broke farmer in Michigan....

I still believe the guy in New Rochelle got the ball rolling in NYC through his blatant ignorance. Nothing will change my opinion on that, certainly not some opinionated internet rag.

Don't matter any to me. One, I don't live there (and never would) and two, I don't plan on getting it if I can help ot.

The rural areas have been pretty lucky so far, but it looks like places where there are clusters of densely packed people working or living together are at risk.

Hong Kong was doing well but more recently had an explosion of cases among foreign workers living in dormitory like conditions. I'll try to get the links to these.

A group of nuns also suffered an outbreak, and of course the retirement homes.

In Michigan our hotspot started in Detroit, where the airport, at least for a while, was the only one allowing flights in from China, (forced to allow?). People up north in the UP were begging folks wanting to come to their summer cottages to bring their own groceries and stay away from the year round residents. The good thing about the stay home orders is those folks were protected for a while. The tiny rural hospitals would not be able handle a bunch of sick folks. However there are several large prisons up there too, which could seed an outbreak. Our fruit farmers in northern lower Michigan rely heavily on seasonal workers that live in "camps". With borders closed, the workers may not be available, but even if there are any, the camps with less than stellar hygiene would allow the virus to spread. This is a problem that a general solution would be good. Maybe some kind of public works projects would provide workers. Then there are the logistics issues for keeping them safe... not an easy problem to solve:( .

We had it hit the large prison just south of Pine Bluff. 200 inmates were diagnosed over night with it.

They are ramping up large scale testing of the prisons as I speak. But they are being reported in a seperate category.

Other then the prison. We have seen a big decrease in the number of new infections. Two weeks ago, they were diagnosing 60 plus new cases a day.

We are down to around 25 new cases a day.

Last I heard, we are around 3300 cases. Over 1900 of those cases are recovered. With around 1300 active cases currently.

Here on Cape Breton Island we have no idea just how many cases are on the island it self because Cape Breton is in Nova Scotia and they just break it down saying there are how many in the eastern district which covers a large part of the main land and Cape Breton Island.

Theres a lot to this... a lot of theories on who you can trust or not and what they are doing. I believe its real but may not be all they said it was. If the powers released it or not I don't know. But I believe there are those that are using it take our liberties and make us sheep doing what they want.

Just so long as you and your loved ones don't have it, all is good.

News from the front lines

I talked to a former student of mine yesterday, his wife is high up in research in a drug company, she is working "30 hrs a day" trying to get a vaccine up and running. I said give her a hug from me....

This ref is interesting, gives a perspective of what it is like to treat a disease for which there is little data on successful treatment protocols. Things are evolving for the better. This time is what staying at home buys us.

Looks like baby steps with this one but it really hasn't been that long and they are learning quite fast what isn't working which is great as we don't have time to waste. There are many working on a vaccine all over the world and if I read it correctly some are making some headway but like anything else only believe half of what you read and what you hear on the news. I wouldn't go as far as some calling it fake news, just twisted a bit to serve their purpose. Stay safe my friends, the fix is coming but it may be a while.

Isn't news suppose to be what is happening or has happened, in other words the truth, and what isn't the truth a lie? So something twisted to serve a purpose is not news, therefore fake news.

We're so use to is we make excuses for it.

In the local rag this morning Adrian Telegram, an article about kids are getting it as well. I know the Monroe Evening News lists cases, general locations and ages and there are more than a few confirmed under 12 years old.

Actually, the majority of confirmed are in the 40-55 age group.

It's been known all along that the kids get the infection, but like many "childhood illnesses", the young ones show little if any symptoms. I wish we all could be that fortunate.

Regarding vaccine, maybe the researchers will stumble across the vaccine for HIV in their efforts. That is a corona virus also. If I have it correctly. It's been many years, and still only treatment, no vaccine.

Yes I believe you're right twomany and yes it sure would be great for those that suffer from HIV. Who knows, miracles do happen I've heard.
