I'm on my second real drone and really enjoy flying and filming what I see. the latest is a DJI Air 3s 40+ minutes flying time.
I tried to build my own buying parts from ebay and made it too heavy with poor results so I bought a Phantom 3 pro and had many good flights then flew it into a tree and cracked the plastic body so I bought a replacement body but it did not have the captured nuts to fasten the body together now we have lots of spare parts.
The Air 3S is amazing with 3 different flight speeds and lots of features.

Do that up here on my property and you lose your drone. Got two of them so far.

Quite simply comes down to treat people the way you would want to be treated, in addition to what the law says (which doesn’t say much, unfortunately). Here I keep it moving at 30mph and above 200 feet to stay above the hillbilly ack-ack. Even though I absolutely agree with you in principle G-jay, in the US, you could be prosecuted per FAA regulations but likely not the drone operator unless he or she was just hanging outside your window playing peekaboo. (and ask yourself—“does anyone really even want to see that?”)

In the US, you can fly over any (private) property (unless restricted by nearby airfields, events) all you want—but doesn’t mean you actually should (and I can easily avoid issues myself, and do).
As for hovering, that’s just poor form and I certainly don’t want anyone doing that to me.
….make it look like a hunting accident… or quite possibly a boating one, if Skeets has anything to say about it.

Its my understanding that the Federal Government considers 500' and up navigable airspace. So a drone could 'loiter' anywhere, other than restricted areas, at that height.

With the size of most drones you wouldn't even know it was there at 500'.

My SIL has a little DJI. He’s brought it here from Philly couple times over the years.

Neat thing. Don’t think I’d like one, and honestly doubt I’d use it much.

Funny - first time he had it flying, he told me he was going to tag me for it to follow me.

On his screen he got an error that said “Target is too large to lock on…” or something similar.

Although he didn’t need a a reminder, I told him remember that…..

they have been flying up to my window in the middle of the night. I asked the neighbor lady about it a week or so ago and she said she saw a little green light at her bedroom window too. I told her about it and now she is on the defensive side.

So We have to figure out who's drone it is, where it came from all that. I told her I know how to find out but it requires destructive testing, of which apparently I'm good at lately.

no need for 'destructive testing', simply use a bow and arrow with baler twine attached to the arrow. Aim a bit 'higher and over' the drone. Since they have 4 props it's easy to snag them. Also makes it easy to recover, you just follow the twine ! Now what you do afterwards is up to you and the law.

In the US, recreational drone operators aren’t permitted over 400’ AGL, and FAA regulations apply just as soon as you’re in the air.

I think I know whose drone it is and if I'm right, they don't have access to any internet....hillbillies...weirdo's, whatever you call them. Neighbor lady whose window they're looking into, she's real nice looking. If i were weird like those other people I'd want to look too.

Back story. She used to live in my house. Guy I bought my house from used to live down the road at address 2. She was in 9. He divorced, she was (and still is) single, him and her traded houses. He lived at "my" place for 4 years and then I bought it. Well when she moved in down there, she had (but not anymore) a live-in boyfriend, or I guess that's what he was. He's real good at handyman stuff and also with remodeling, since that's what he does. So him and her added onto the house several times; the last was a workout room on the back of the house. 3 sides of the room kinda are off of the house, and windows all over those 3 sides. They did a great job with it. Their backyard was all trees but most of them weren't on her property, just across the fence (property line). So the "carnies" moved in out there in campers and in trucks. That's where they live. Trucks and campers. They are traveling carnival ride operator people. They musta realized that she's a short, petite, cute blonde that takes very good care of herself, so they cut all the trees down so they could get a better look while she's working out. Now the drone. I was down there last night and we got to talking about this subject and she was telling me that she thinks she's gonna put up a tall privacy fence, kept asking me if I wanted to help her with it. I wish I had the time cause I like doing that kinda stuff.

At night, pearing in my bedroom window...... might be time to check out my skeet shooting skills. after reporting it as a peeper to the local police first though.

illegal to shoot down a drone. Plus, if owner knows who done it they can hit you with destruction of personal property in a courtroom-and some of the drones aren't exactly cheap, combined with the claimed value of the destruction + punitives.

drones are considered unmanned aircraft and carry the same laws as any other unmanned aircraft. And, the air above your house/ land is not necessarily yours.

While it may be illegal to shoot down a drone(depends on where you live), if the pilot is in violation of the local laws, he can't sue and win in a court ( doesn't have 'clean hands' ).
Instead of actually shooting it, you can use a 'radio jammer', drone falls to the ground, YOUR ground, then go cut YOUR grass,oopsy...what was that I just ran over ?
