Yesterday, I attached my Fred Cain ripper cultivator and deep ripped my garden before tilling. Next weekend I’ll plant the cool weather plants.

Not to be critical,...
But, you could mount a 5 pound extinguisher in the same place.
IMHO a 2-3/4 lb. extinguisher is not quite enough, for much of anything.
Once fuel gets to burning, it can be quite tough to stop.
Hope that valve and handle are all metal too.
Plastic valves/handles tend to break, when you need them.

You could easily mount a 5 pounder in the same location.
I have had two fires!
One BIG one, ......and one little one!

Good idea. Yes the extinguisher has metal valves

More rock work as I worked on the new turning area, ripped out the old raised gardens and filled a few more low spots on the drive IMG_2176.jpeg

My 19 yo. son was starting my electric start Gravely.
Spark ignited small tank spilled gasoline, and though he used two CO2 extinguishers (a 5lb + 10lb) it was not enough.
Result: $240,000 (1987 dollars) major part loss of house.

Dry chemical preferred for fuels.

Cleaned up tree limbs from our 20" storm a couple weeks ago.
Five or six loads on the forks like this.
And lots more around my property to get to.

@mcmxi found a rock today. The tractor and grapple handled it with ease😆

Cut some more saplings and dead limbs. Ended up with a decent pile.

I set the pond fence corner posts in the post holes previously drilled. All 15 of them. I’ll make the connecting supports & weld them in over the next couple days.

Hooked up the hydraulics for the new grapple. It's hopefully temporary until I figure out a good way using hard lines down the boom. I think I'm going to like it.

I need to find a good way to park it. LP says open it all the way and lay it face down, but that's sure hard to connect, and it takes a lot of floor space. It'll sit up vertically, but it's not very stable. Need to find an in-between.

I finished tilling the area with my new holand, and got the garden fence up, and gate built. I'll spread the compost and till once more, then plant. I really want a 3pt tiller for the kubota, the new holland struggles with the hard ground.

The primary reason for opening it all the way is so that the cylinder rods are fully retracted and protected from corrosion, as well as having the least amount of hydraulic fluid in them (by the amount displaced by the rods). Put a piece of RR tie on the ground and put the clamp teeth on that to lean it back just a bit to make it easier to connect the SSQA. It should still be forward heavy and relatively stable.

Dry chemical preferred for fuels.
Dry chem and foaming extinguishers are the only kinds rated for fuel/oil fires. Foaming agents are harder to come by for personal/residential use. It takes a lot more CO2 than you can carry to put out even a small fuel fire because it does nothing to reduce the volatility of the fuel. Even kerosene and diesel are hard to extinguish with CO2 unless there is enough to completely starve the fire of oxygen and cool the ignition source. Keep a good ABC rated extinguisher handy. Dry chemical extinguishers are usually ABC rated. Good general purpose extinguisher. CO2 is better suited for electrical fires where water or any liquid is likely to create a shock hazard. I keep a 10# ABC in the kitchen and a couple 5-pounders in key locations in my shop, as well as one in the back of my truck. I also try to do any gasoline transfer outside for the very situation you describe. Then I lose a piece of equipment, not my house or shop.
I had to take fire safety training every year for 43 years. Some of it made pretty good sense.

Geddy’s grazing….have spots where lawn took off this spring. Most doesn’t need mowing yet.

I need to get the mower deck ready to go and on the tractor. Still have the loader and chains on.

Never mowed this early, and weekend weather has sucked lately. Got me behind, along with reorganizing after house projects.

Heck, 2 years ago we had 12” of wet snow and were without power for 2 or 3 days.

I’ll still take this over a foot of snow…. ;)

I've been working up the firewood that I pulled out last winter. Took these the other day.

24_4_18-1.JPG

Stand between the bucket and the splitter and throw the splits on the pile/row. Straighten them out a little after each bucket full'

24_4_18-2.JPG

If the blocks are to big for me to handle up on the splitter I chunk them up a little and throw them back on the pile. Working of the carry-all gives a nice surface to slide them around on and makes it easy to mount them on the splitter w/o a wrestle.

Seems most of you have green lawns and are starting gardens. Still brown here and still running the wood stove. High today was 42* with bright sun - perfect in my book.

A little bit of gravel and I can finally get to the back of the property without driving all the way around the outer edge. 2 - 12 inch drains to handle the rain and run off. The Kubota moved a fair amount of dirt for this one.

Am I to understand that trailer is dedicated to storing your firewood through the summer? Now I AM jealous. That looks like a nice dump trailer from this angle.
It's a 16ft PJ dump trailer but I need it for various projects so the wood will have to get dumped out soon.

Not surprising, for 25 year old TLB.
Perhaps you need all new hoses?
Yea, most on the FEL are original. I’m amazed they have lasted this long. The rubber outer coating has been cracked for years. If water gets in it rusts the braid, then after a while you get what I had today. I threw a old longer one I had on to finish what I was doing. But full replacement on the FEL will be in my future. I have been through the BH already.

My L48 TLB lived the 1st 13 years of it's life outside.
It lives inside now, and I don't plan new hoses, until the first one goes.
Some slight cracking, but they all do still appear to be quite serviceable.

Replacing your BH hoses must have been quite difficult/frustrating.
