The tractor and forks has revolutionized our firewood handling.
I like those firewood racks made out of pallets! Cheap and effective! If one gets broken or damaged, free repair parts abound!

Today I offloaded a robust pallet 77" x 144" that I'm going to make into a small lean-to for storing implements.

I also fabricated a pair of loader safety blocks from a couple of 2x4x1/4" wall extruded structural aluminum pieces I found in the scrap bin at work. Used a 2" hole saw in the mill to make a semicircular cut through the width of the extrusion to fit around the bottom end of the cylinder trunnion. Drilled a couple of holes for some ball lock pins, used the table saw to cut the extrusion lengthwise to create a deep U-shaped channel that fits over the cylinder rod. I cut them to length so that I can raise the loader up in my shop and not hit the ceiling, then put them in place. Shut off the tractor and EASE the loader down and I'm good to go!

Nothing....it sits with the battery tender on, all set for snow-fighting.

I'm okay with that.

Not a bad thing since it means we don't have snow! I don't hunt, snowmobile, or ski anymore, so we can skip the white stuff.....I did have to put truck in 4WD on trip to work other day.

Maybe I'll start it and let it run tomorrow.

Time to pile this year's fresh split green Tamarack into the drying crates. That's Sparky the rooster guarding the operation.
View attachment 51597

Then fork them into the hoop shelter to dry for at least a year.
View attachment 51595

Then its set by the front door. This firewood pictured by the door had spent 2 summers and a winter in the shelter. Makes for an easy to ignite, long and clean burning, low ash fire, the best imo.

That looks like a cool place you have there..

Yes, is is. We're blessed to have been able to buy, 25 years ago, this 119 acres on a river and bordering a huge wilderness.
Took me until 3 years ago to afford to invest in this tractor and implements, just in time to retire soon. My new shoulders, legs, and back!

Tried out the new and improved dropped hitch trailer mover today!!!
hitch traier.jpg hitchdrop.jpg The 8" drop is enough to hitch and haul the trailer without dragging either the tail of the trailer or the bottom of the bucket

Today was the first day I’ve really gotten to use my root grapple. Wow. I got the hang of it pretty quick and in no time was digging out a clump of ligustum and honeysuckle. Also used it to clean up tops of some trees I recently cut down and didn’t want to mess with sorting.

I was tired of smelling exhaust and cleaning black soot off of my loader arm due to the factory muffler outlet.
So, I had a stack made at the local muffler shop and then I made up a couple support brackets to brace it to the grill guard.

You've gotta put a rain cap on that to complete the effect! Hopefully you can get it to slap a bit! Post video please!
Nah, I have the rain caps on my other tractors that sit outside occasionally, but they wear out over time and start jingling and rattling. This one is stored inside and I only use it to rake hay or plow snow, neither of which is done in the rain lol.
The tractor is actually quieter now with the stack, no more snappy bark, more of a deeper rumble.

Every couple weeks I drive the tractor down the right of way across the front of the property to collect the beer cans, fast food sacks and all the other trash folks seem to find the need to throw out rather than take home to dispose of. Living on a two lane state highway there is also the items that fall off commercial truck (usually trash), too. Nearly filled a 55 gallon garbage bag with "gems" from the right of way today.
This drives me crazy!

We’ve had similar experience with the flapper cap durability and jingling at low rpm on our vertical stack machines. For the occasional parking outside an old soup can on the stack will keep rain out. About half the time I forget to take it off before cranking, blow it about 8’ in the air, and hope it doesn’t land in my head. But at least it doesn’t rattle. I’ve also had it rain a lot more than I thought it would, water sits at the bottom of the pipe for a while so cranking results in a soot water shower. Maybe DPF prevents the soot water shower.

The vertical stack is a nice mod, though. Still kind of weird having a tractor without a vertical stack.

You could put a sewer trap on the pipe to keep the water out of the engine

I'm getting ready for my new Wicked grapple. Hope to get it in the next week or so. Added protection to the grill guard turned out better than I hoped for. The paint job looks better than the welding. Shaking hands don't hinder painting as much as it does welding.

Nice brush guard! That ought to keep all but the skinniest sticks away.

I don't have any excuse for my poor welds, other than lack of practice.
