I like those firewood racks made out of pallets! Cheap and effective! If one gets broken or damaged, free repair parts abound! The tractor and forks has revolutionized our firewood handling.
Today I offloaded a robust pallet 77" x 144" that I'm going to make into a small lean-to for storing implements.
I also fabricated a pair of loader safety blocks from a couple of 2x4x1/4" wall extruded structural aluminum pieces I found in the scrap bin at work. Used a 2" hole saw in the mill to make a semicircular cut through the width of the extrusion to fit around the bottom end of the cylinder trunnion. Drilled a couple of holes for some ball lock pins, used the table saw to cut the extrusion lengthwise to create a deep U-shaped channel that fits over the cylinder rod. I cut them to length so that I can raise the loader up in my shop and not hit the ceiling, then put them in place. Shut off the tractor and EASE the loader down and I'm good to go!
