New tractor was delivered yesterday, I was able to dig out 3 stumps before the rain came in the afternoon. Will be trying to dodge rain drops this afternoon to dig out 6 more before putting a flower bed.

Get yourself a hydraulic ram for the thumb and you will be glad you did. Once installed...you will quickly see that it is great addition...

Lifted my 1977 Sears, ir Kellogg 3 hp air compressor up with my l2501 and made a pallet for it finally.. it threw a belt for the second time in 3 years.. so I ordered new belts.. probably time as the old owner that bought it new hadn't changed them since the late 90s..

Then used the tractor to push it back in its corner.. probably in the 400 pound range

Did the steering shaft boot fix recommended by Paul Short. Looks like Kubota slit the boot to maybe help alleviate the problem but it looks like mine was starting to get twisted with only 3.5 hrs on the tractor.

Used a grease compatible with rubber.

Had a Red Oak go down a few weeks ago knocking down a part of my 8' game fence. Once again the Little Beast comes in handy.
Just another day in the country.

We hadn't mowed in the last three weeks due to the lack of rain, then this past week we got over two inches. Everything bounced back well. We spent the morning mowing and then went over and looked at the north 40 acres to see how the crop was doing. It looks like it is bouncing back well. Could use more rain, but thankful for what we got.

Started removing a section of Sumac with BH and mechanical thumb. Lots slower than a piranha bar but gives me more time before I have to go back to the “honey do” list.

Hopped on the 1700 and mowed for a couple hours this afternoon. Had a windfall in the back on my trails that I need to get the 3200 out to move it off the trail. Covered with poison ivy and we don’t get along. Finished off the day greasing up the 1700 mmm and tractor

Discovered the steering shaft zerk for the first time and lubed it good. It was very hard to see way back in the engine bay and covered with dirt.
Tightened the loader mount bolts, a few of which were slightly loose:eek: and checked all my wheel bolts, which were still good and tight:)

Tried cutting firewood this evening. The first tree I cut into I though I saw hornets buzzing. I went to get a wedge and was welcomed back to try by a aggressive sting. I'm 3/4 cut into a dead ash tree on neighbors property so it has to come down !!! Wedge banged in no problem .. fired up saw .. cut the little corner needed to drop and was escorted away from stump by swarm. Recovered all equipment.
Good news no equipment was stung or harmed. I took 4 stings for the team.

I mowed the lawn for the 2nd time, first time with the loader removed.. took about an hour and a half according to the hour meter..

I figired id try it on the side of my shop with a slop.. shop it elevated about 5 feet from the lowest point.. about 5 feet from the fence there is a sudden hump that goes up about a foot.. well I was mowing on the slant about 5 inches from the drop off and I guess I turned a bit and the back tire started going of the drop.. luckily it did not slide off.. I felt it and imidelty stopped and thought ohh $hit im about to roll my new tractor! I had thought about this and put my seat belt on.. and was also in 4wd and in low gear

Sat there for a few seconds but felt longer and held the break disengaged the pto and slowly and slightly turned left going up hill and pulled out of it.. got off the slop and my heart was really beating.. sat there for a min saying yeah probably should not do that again dummy!

In the picture you can kinda see the grass high spot with the drop off just inches away from the the mowed part..

Anyway that was a real pucker factor..

Yeah.. ill probably do it again but I think im going to add some dirt so it's not a drop off but a foot or so long slop..

There is just no way a picture can give the viewer the true pucker factor. Looking at the pictures it is, yea you have a little slope. But sitting in the tractor seat it sure is a bad feeling.

You did a good job of stop think and working your way back out of trouble with no one or nothing damaged.

Think I'd have leveled the dirt out going back to the stump. Cut the stump off at ground level, then hired a stump grinder to cut in about 12" into the ground. Then removed the dirt on the back side of the stump to make the area level.
