We shall see regarding the snow, that is of course my biggest concern. I’ll knock it off when I can (I’m usually here as work from home).

That hoop house sounds great, but I was able to set this up in a couple hours with a three year old’s help, didn’t require running electric, and cost $160 (plus some fasteners and a couple pieces of wood I had sitting around). If I had hoop house money I’d just build a carport!

Update on my $160 carport tractor cover:

We had serious winds the past few days. Though it didn’t blow away, the fatal flaw of my installation design resulted in the wood pieces sliding and the frame getting tweaked. Luckily I complained about the kinda shoddy cover it came with (fabric had thin spots and it came with mildew on it) so they sent me a replacement. They couldn’t source just a cover apparently so I go the entire assembly. Good thing, because now I had spare parts to replace the bent ones!

The fix is I spiked it down at the corners with some rebar. Hopefully that does it! While I was at it I added more braces from the replacement.

I thought posting about how I store my tractor fit the thread topic “what did you do on or to your kubota today” and it may be helpful or useful info for others. But, perhaps you thought the same about what you posted. And who am I to be the thread police, right? My apologies.

If this is arguably appropriate/useful/fun for this thread, then I’ll bite. I live outside Albany NY, and it’s remarkable it’s going to be colder in south Texas! Right now at 8pm it’s 16 degrees at my house, but the winds have died down a lot after this afternoons snow squalls and I imagine are below 20mph.

I have friends up there, based on the forecast, we will have a colder wind chill. This past summer we were hotter than Death Valley for over a week. One day it reached 127* heat index here.

Wind chill here is currently 17* the front will push through tomorrow.

I just hope we're able to share our summer heat of 110*+(Heat index in 120's) with the Northerns on here for a few days.

I have snowbirds from Washington renting a RV spot, he is in his mid to upper 50's in age. I was wrapping pipes and taken care of animals on Sunday, the guy had more layers than me and I said, shouldn't you be running around in a speedo or something? His response, I didn't realize it gets this cold down here, I just shrugged my shoulders...haha like it was no big deal, lol.

Not a whole lot of snow here but as others have said, very cold. Plowed a spot in the yard for the pugs and a trail for granddaughter to get to our house.

I did a bunch of driveways and being so cold and windy, found it worked best to shut off auto throttle and run at a constant 2,000 rpm- kept the temp in the mid range. Soooooo glad I’ve got a cab!

When your tummy is only 6" off the ground you need all the help you can get!

Didn’t do much with the LX other than shuttling the trailer in the yard to spread 2 yards of pine bark mulch that I bought for the flower beds close to the house. Then I got on the little orange one (Husqvarna) and picked up leaves (again) in the finished part of the yard. Cleaned a bunch of leaves out of the water feature and the surrounding beds and fed all that to the little 20 year old Murray chipper/shredder to convert leaves into free mulch (well actually about a buck for the fuel). Didn’t really pay much attention to the temperature. It was cold, but not so bad I couldn’t get the work done. Feeding a shredder with a pitch fork tends to keep me warm. The missus kept the pile raked up while I fed the shredder. Made about 1.5 yards of mulch and spread it in the beds we cleaned up.

It was a balmy -4 here this morning…so the block heater got plugged in…after about 1.5 hrs, had one bar on the dash when she fired right up. Did not see more than two bars in the 3 hrs I was out…and when just idling only one bar on the dash/thermostat.

Moved some wood onto the porch and relocated some of the wood slabs I had milled last year.

Picture of the dolly without the blower on it please.
Photo of the brackets off the blower.

It's not really a dolly, just two brackets. I had about 54" of scrap 1 1/2" by 1/4" thick angle iron. Cut in half and cut each of the four vertical square corners off at a 45. On each of the two 27" angle iron pieces I drilled two castor mounting holes and two snowblower mounting holes (mount each to the existing two skid shoe holes.) So, just two 27" long angle iron brackets with two castors on each...

First snow to clear with the B. We had our driveway paved last year so I used the poly Edge Tamers. They worked great! Leaves about an inch on the pavement to keep it from turning into a sheet of ice!

There's at least 6" of new snow on the ground this morning and snow is still falling. The MX block heater is plugged in, and at some point I'll be blowing and pushing snow around.
