Found a fatigue crack in my Husqvarna mower deck after cutting grass this morning. Takes all of 5 minutes to drag the deck out from under the little orange tractor, but I ain’t got the lower back for lifting it. Picked it up with the LX and inverted it on the portable welding table for repairs, then held it up to put a little touch up paint on my excellent grinding. I weld sorta like a dirt dauber using sandy mud. But I’m pretty good with a grinder. My welding gives me plenty grinding practice. The mower deck gives me a little welding practice. It’s getting pretty old for a residential mower that’s had a hard life, but I keep it patched up with the welder as long as the engine holds up. The Husqvarna is 22 HP, only 4 HP less than the LX, and shows no sign of quitting any time soon.

Found a dead deer in one of the fields on the property while mowing and used the forks for dispatching. Took it way out back in the woods. The buzzards and coyotes will be happy.

How deep is your pipe from the well? In the northeast we run it 3 to 4 feet deep and the water temperature stays approximately the same all year. Of course you are saving on water heating.

My well is 196' deep, and the water coming up is cold even with temps in triple digits..
Only problem is it pumps into 3 black holding tanks and it gets warm. Actually it gets hot. When I unscrew the lid on one steam vapor actually come out.
I have to turn the water flow through on my tankless water heater to try and get the water cooler since the default minimum setting is 101deg.

Looking at long term forecast, looks like we might be back to somewhat normal temperatures in 2 weeks. But rain probability doesn't look to good until last week in August.

Used the hoe to hold up logs for cutting in to rounds. Kinda annoying jumping on and off the machine, but very nice on the back compared to cutting on the ground. Plus I need to do everything I can to justify the purchase!

Went out after work and pulled the driveway up the hill. One of the culvert pipes got clogged up and the water ran down the hill taking a lot of the gravel with it. We have had 3.89" of rain in the last two days. We went from no ran for almost a month to over 4.5" in the last seven days.

I didn't get any pictures, I started on it before I thought about it.

It was a little hot out, but not as bad as it has been. We have had days to it has gotten 100+.

Loaded up. Who's ready to dig an emergency water service in the rain? This guy (well, not really). Its' going to be really greasy. I sure wouldn't mind if it were rescheduled for another day. I won't get wet, but it'll sure be sweaty. If only big K would offer AC in these...

water service went without a hitch. had to cross the gas line, but we found it early on and were able to dive under it... no rain at all today, only last night with heavy thunderstorm put down .5 inch plus.! unreal. I thought for sure this one would get rescheduled.

Start (very steep embankment made for a bit of puckering for sure ) It doesn't look as bad in pics.

I did get another newbie to dig some today. He's leaving the job for another in western PA so I wanted to give him a shot on the sticks before he left. He did well and seemed to really enjoy it.

Done. Would've been a cleaner job if it hadn't been for that embankment. It was steep!

On the to the next one. Two sewer lines next week for a father and son.

Took the little girl for a walk in the woods this morning. Not sure how I would manage without a tractor or grapple. Sure is helpful moving the rounds and sections of branches and holding branch to working height. Put another dent in the tree this morning…rain got here by late morning so I had to stop. I did not have a measuring tape but at an estimated 20-25 feet up the trunk at the 2nd fork the bottom of the fork is close to the OAL of the saw (in the pic…that’s the bottom of the fork). That’s a black walnut tree…there was some damage and bugs at the bottom but I think I am going to keep that log (that saw is sitting on in pic)and buy chain saw mill and try making some slabs to use in the wood shop. Anyone use a chain saw mill? Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

Made another dent in it…ran out of go go juice again. it’s mostly done now just waiting on the mill to show up…I found a local with a portable and we are going to try to see if we can get it down the hill with a SS to handle the log…hopefully I’ll have some slabs drying within a few weeks.

Took a picture of the Turbocharger assembly w/ exhaust down pipe, inlet pipe and charge pipe for the L2501 Turbo Kit;

Now...I just need to get off my lazy butt and do some more work with the tractor!

Not sure, it was close to the road but there was no trama kind of damage that I could see. I was thinking hit by a vehicle and had internal damage but was able to crawl into the field where it laid down and died.

After that, we found a well a neighbor had told us about. Water is 17’ down & at least 8’ deep (only had a 25’ tape measure). I will have to check this out.

We worked on cleaning up some dead trees around the farm house. One nephew was on the MF383, the other was using my Kubota.

This tree was an issue because it had fence wire running through it. I kept making cuts on it and realizing that I was going to wire. Finally decide to just push it over and clean up the mess.

I measure the well depth by tying a bolt to baler twine and dropping to the water. Then put a knot at the top. Then lay out the twine and measure. I leave the twine/bolt nearby so I can gauge the water level any time. Putting a tape measure down into water is sometimes difficult to know when the end of the tape is at the water's edge because of any movement down there! And I don't risk losing a good tape measure.
