Started moving wood front the front "seasoning pile" to the woodshed in the back. My father has my 4x8 trailer, so just used the bucket to transport. It's slower then loading up the trailer but I can put the FEL right at waist height for loading and unloading so not nearly as much bending over as it would be with the trailer.

Nice looking woodshed. You guys living up in cold regions take your firewood seriously. By necessity I suppose. Where I live a fire in the fireplace is for ambiance or BBQ. :)

So we don't need very much.

Thanks, that was one of my first projects when we bought the place and I learned quickly its a tad too small, but way better then nothing like I grew up with. I've got more hardwood then I know what to do with at the moment, as a guy down the road was building a house last year and I got cords and cords of unprocessed wood from him. I also have more pine then I know what to do with but that is reserved for the outdoor fire pit so I go through it much slower. I wish I could heat primarily with wood but we only have a large open fireplace which gets used a ton and being that it's a small house it's does alright. we keep the thermostat at 58 in the winter.

I took a shower with my tractor today. I took a load of burnable items down to the next brush pile area and on the way down the hill I saw it was raining east of us about 10 miles away. The radar was showing things moving south/east so I didn't thing any thing of it. Guess what hit just after pushing the load in to the pile. DOWN POUR. It takes about 5 minuets in the truck and about 15 on the tractor to get to the house from this location. The only thing that was not soaked was my phone, the business' cards soaked up the water running off my belt and the outer side is water tight. 4 10ths of an inch in 20 minuets.
You call .4 inches in 20 minutes a down pour? We just call that a slight increase in humidity in Alabama. Golf ball size rain drops actually hurt a bit when they hit. DEAFENING under a metal roof. We had 1.5 inches in one hour once last summer. I started researching Noah’s plans for the ark. I don’t mind heavy rain as long as it’s falling straight down. When it goes horizontal is when I get a little nervous.

Getting the drain pipe set and covered with gravel. Put a couple inches next to the naked pipe on top of the cloth, flipped the cloth back and will fill to level.

I didn’t want to have to try to clean gravel out of the yard (as if I had a nice lawn) so we’re shoveling the first yard and a half along the edge of the driveway. Put in a new flower bed for the missus, too. Darn if she didn’t plant two table lamps trying to grow some fancy lamp posts.
Oh, btw, the missus is actually encouraging me to get a dump trailer. I don’t think she likes shoveling #57 gravel.

That looks like some happy kids. Make sure they listen to Classic Rock, and you’ll have unparalleled parenting skills.

They both love being outside, they don’t sit around much watching tv, etc…last weekend we were working on clearing out some more brush. When we moved out here in 2017 there was maybe 1/2-3/4 of an acre that was kept mowed up around the house, rest was overgrowth that hadn’t been touched in years. Now we got around 5-6 that’s cleared for them to run around, their little “farm”, and the timber trails.

Mine was the same, overgrown with brush, but some old growth timber too. Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s a single pine back there that hasn’t been struck by lightning, some of them big hits. I’ve been hacking away at it for 20 years, but only started making significant progress after I got the LX. Then, I got the grapple for it, and did as much work in an afternoon as I did in the previous 3 years. It’s a lot easier with a new tractor when all ya got left is an old body.

We haven’t had an inordinate amount of rain this year but something like 85% of weekends this year, it has rained here. For folks like me that work a job away from home, that’s caused some problems with land maintenance. This weekend the ground at least resembled dry and no rain in the forecast so stump grinding and mowing were the order of the day.

Started with this pine stump. The little tree on the left was kind of irritating as was a large tupelo in front of the tractor that I didn’t think would be in the way but it was. Got it done but if I was shooting a how to video that one wouldn’t have survived the edit.
IMG_0827.jpeg

No obstacles complicating the next one.
IMG_0828.jpeg

Much quicker and smoother.
IMG_0830.jpeg

Next up: mowing amongst a bunch of trees. Even with the bucket off, the loader is too much. Only time I run it sans loader so it always strikes me as looking odd. Lower the ROPs, 2WD, unlock the brakes for steering. Only job it’s configured that way and it reminds me more of operating one of our antique gassers than the 4WD, front loader weighted, roll over protected machine I’m used to.
IMG_0832.jpeg

The problem.
IMG_0834.jpeg
IMG_0837.jpeg

The solution.
IMG_0835.jpeg

The result. Also mowed the top of the dam and the trails that have stilt grass on them.
IMG_0840.jpeg
IMG_0841.jpeg

Put the loader back on and ROPs back up. Don’t know what it will be doing next so left the 3 point empty.
IMG_0839.jpeg

And of course about 8:00 this evening it rained despite the weather folks’ prediction otherwise.

When on 'foot' be sure to remind the kiddo's to watch for snakes. They are really moving in my area and yours right now. Your children have a wonderful place to grow up and play. Many are not as fortunate. Good job Dad!

Helped neighbor out and dug up old satellite dish. Should have listened to reasonable voice and cut the mast off BEFORE dumping in roll off. Piece of it came around and scraped hood. 1st scar in 510 hours of use and I knew it was overdue as I use forks for demo work. Wouldn’t of happened with a grapple - I’ve started saving for one now.

You might try some medium rubbing compound, and perhaps get much of that scratch out.

I hope not, but it appears that it is thru the color coat. I had some deep scratches from new that showed yellow, I carefully filled them with Kubota touch up paint, then sanded with very fine wet or dry followed by a polish. Turned out perfect but the scratches weren’t so wide.
