What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I hooked up my China chipper yesterday. I'd been cutting brush and trees on both sides of a property line stone wall for the last couple weekends. Generally a couple hours with a chainsaw and I've had enough physical labor for the day. But finally got it cut back. And started chipping today. I hadn't used my chipper for four yrs or so. I greased it fired it up knowing the mice must have a palace in there. Nothing came out the chute. 0. No air or chips. Finally I removed the chute and it had a mice block condo about a foot long. Then off we went. My sister and nephews lent a hand and we chipped for two hrs. The rest of the cut brush is on wetter ground. So it needs to dry some before I'd drive on it.

Cut and moved wood (maple) with the cs590 and the did some gravel work on the driveway with the tractor and stihl kombi sweeper moved an old metal truck cap we had been burning brush in back to its home in the woods, cleaned up the rest if the sod/dirt from the wife's front (dahlia) garden expansion,and last but not least and not tractor related switched the attachment on the kombi to the weed whip and did 1.5 hours of that noise starting at 4:30

Is that a custom roll bar on your tractor? I'm guessing to avoid any logs rolling back towards the hood/operator? Very nice.

I spend a lot of time working in the woods. Often on rough hilly terrain. It is for general safety and protection including what you mentioned while loading logs. I built it a couple years ago.

I was taking some bigger stuff to my burn pile. Gonna be a nice bonfire when I light these boys up.

I loaded the L3901DT with the grapple on the trailer and took it over to a friends farm to help clean up a couple of field that had trees blown over in them. Was a lot easier for me to grapple all the limps then for him and his wife to pick it all up by hand. Also moved some logs for him.

Time for a cleaning so I had to do my least favorite task, removing the FEL, actually, removing is easy it’s the remounting that’s a PITA. I’ve watched every video that makes it look easy but I struggle every year.

I didn't realize how terrible of a job this was until I did it myself earlier this week, the FEL stays on for me permanently for the foreseeable future.

Today was a grapple day for the B, spent most of the day doing limbs,, why I was looking to a battery saw. And then cut the trunks 6 feet or so, the stihl could use a 20 inch bar but the 18 works well enough,,, then the grapple clawed them chunks up and off to the brush pile. so yeah I had both girls out the BX with the wagon and the B with the grapple. I cannot say how much I like it I never thought I would use it as much as I do,,,, wish to hell I would have gotten one a long time ago

Didn’t get to use the Bota today, worked on getting my daughter her own “tractor” running, got let down by post office . Hopefully will have it going for her tomorrow

Went around all three houses and down the road trimming the limbs that have dared to encroach to the point of brushing passing vehicles and assaulting mower operators. That resulted in probably a couple dozen little brush piles like those above scattered around the residential portion of the property.

After that was done swapped the forks that were on the L for the grapple. Chipper was already on it.

Then had one of those moments where I felt really stupid but glad for it at the same time. When I hooked up the grapple it would open maybe an inch and then it was like either there was a mechanical stop or a hydraulic dead head. I’ve had this happen before when a quick connect “looks” hooked up but isn’t quite. Disconnected and reconnected. No love. Messed with it for about 30 minutes swapping quick connects around and verifying no mechanical obstruction (definitely a hydraulic issue). Pretty much cleared potential issues on the front of the loader. Have had the grapple off and on numerous times since the loader was last off, so didn’t suspect problems on the valve end but when I started looking at the valve end of the circuit I see this.

No clue how it popped loose. There was enough chipper dust in it to suggest it had been that way for a little while. Cleaned both sides, popped it back together, and all was well. In hindsight, checking the quick connects on both ends of the circuit (not just the front) should have been the first step. Would have saved me a half hour and a few tablespoons of SUDT2.

Of course after that I had to test it for leaks on those fittings that were R/I’d.

A chunk blew out of one of the apple trees a couple days ago. It was sort of hanging upside down attached by splinters. Pulled it the rest of the way out and dumped it on the brush pile. Also chipped some of those small brush piles mentioned earlier straight into the nearby woods.

Started the day mowing with the T2290. Enjoyed the results for a bit with my wife at the end of the day. And no, those ain’t my feet.

What caused that to happen?
Is that something that happens on Kubota tractors?
I have not seen that before. I am still new at this tractor stuff.

All I can say is the same reason planes fall out of the sky, crankshafts and rods break, etc… metal fatigue. Glad it broke there instead of the axle housing or the lower case. I’ll post the fix in service, repair and maintenance.

Spent the day on the M4050 yesterday. Sprayed 2 new acres of food plots with glyphosate to plant buckwheat in a few weeks, and sprayed 2 acres of current clover/chicory plots with liquid fertilizer and clethodim for grasses. Disced up another acre or so and planted buckwheat then cultipacked and tilled and cultipacked a small 1/4 acre sunflower patch. Supposed to get rain today. Long day, but got almost everything on the list done. Still have some buckwheat to plant in the next week or two and the pumpkin patch in mid-June. The M4050 did great although I broke a notched disc. My farm hates being worked. It destroyed a Dearborn double bottom plow, broke 3 springs on my Dearborn culitvator, and now the disc.

Hahaha good way to put old equipment to good use. My kid watches that Hudson's Playground show on YouTube and they just repurposed an old JD to (I assume) replace his battery powered tractor.

I need to see if my buddy will sell me his old gravely so I can do the same thing in a few years.

Perhaps, I should be grateful that my (L48) TL1150 loader is not removable.
