I had a three point PD35 and wished I went to the front mount SD10 from the beginning. Much more plesant to hook up and use looking forward instead of twisted around in the seat. The con is that it spins far slower but I can live with that.

I have the Land Pride HD25 SSQA version with 9" and 12" augers, but wish I had your soil where a big rock is the size of a marble! Rocks up here can be the size of a Volkswagen and even the size of an M5 tractor! My neighbor moved his new shop 8ft closer to his property line so that he wouldn't have to drill and blast a boulder that his crew estimated to be about the size of three Volkswagens.

Worked on the foundation for my guest cabin. Which is six rocks . I dug down a couple feet, put several inches of gravel in the hole, then positioned the rocks. Hope to finish tomorrow.

One of our daughters is in Santa Cruz, CA, near the beach of Monterey Bay.

They’ve had drought and wildfires off and on for years. Some fires have been close to the small city of Santa Cruz. .

They’ve had drought and wildfires off and on for years. Some fires have been close to the small city of Santa Cruz. .

Like the guys up North preparing and putting on snow blowers and chains, I soon will be putting on the disc & cultivator on the tractors in case a fire breaks out. We're supposed to have a dryer winter here, makes me second guess if I got enough hay for the cows.
Back in the 50's drought, I remember my great uncle that experienced it, he told me, that folks were taking a torch to the prickly pears and the cows will eat it and highly nutritional also.

Yeah - I’m one of the guys putting on snowblowers and chains.

Even on their tiny residential lot, our kids are cognizant of extra leaves, brush, etc.

I can’t imagine trying to minimize fire risk on significant acreage.

We’re surrounded by mostly mature hardwood woods. A forest fire here would be catastrophic. Many trees within a fall zone of the house.

That would be the relatively low flow rate on the LX models for the FEL. The solution a buddy of mine came up with was to use the rear remote to power the head on his Grand L. He also added a cylinder to help position the point of the auger with the 3rd Function. Really cool setup. Probably a bit more than I would ever need, though. I think the FEL mounted version is a great idea because the auger can be reversed if it gets stuck under something, not to mention it can be used to reach into flower beds to plant shrubs, etc. Maybe not as far as one would like, but that’s generally just some tweaks to the mounting brackets to move it out farther.

Spent Saturday working on the Kubota. Just under 300 hours but have had it almost 10 years so changed the oil and hydraulic fluid. Also did the fuel filter. Still need to flush radiator, change front gear axle oil before winter rolls in. BTW learned that the loader sitting in the sun will have the hydraulic fluid in the lines expand and create pressure to the point you can not reattach your loader. That was fun!

I think about wildfires scenarios often, it's not if it's going to happen, but when. Years of droughts and the big freeze in 2021 that killed off more brush/trees. There is a lot fuel on the ground on everyone's property down here.

Today was the day for chipping the load of branches I pulled down and the small parts of a tree I dropped last month.
Having the chipper on a dolly makes life good when mounting it:

Before - I had pushed most of the branches into the woods but some were covering some implements

Used the backhoe on my LX3310 to hold up logs for the first time so I could more easily cut them into firewood lengths. No more hitting rocks, no more having to roll logs. It was simply awesome.

Rough morning here…spent a couple hours in the observation tower, then came down to breakfast and do a couple chores (relocate some milled wood MX to make space for the 8N and that’s when I saw the light…

It came on just a few seconds after I started it…had not yet warmed up.

Long story short, one parked regen, a Stella and a cigar later and I was able to put the lumber in the barn across the road.

double orange day today (and for next three more days as well. In my haste, I forgot to get a shot of the B2650 pushing piles into the woods. I can assure you that it was put to work.

good load....about 30 more to go..at least. I'm guessing the pile runs approx 120 feet long. Unfortunately, I found tree tops in the piles.

fortunately, the job is for my neighbor's horse farm and the loads are being moved to another part of the property.
