What makes you say"it got a little hot" and caused you to shut it off?

Dan
I shut it off to move stuff out of the way.and you could here the water kinda bubling a little.i had my brother to pull it to my house.i tryed starting it up and started right up.shut it off and tryed it again.cranked over like suppose to.it don't make sense to me.with my luck I don't think I'm going to try playing the lottery.

Check and top off the fluids, put it back to work, and keep an eye on the coolant level.

But it won’t crank fast enough to start.

I would try to spin engine by hand just to see how difficult it is to turn.

Then if that seems “normal “ (whatever normal was or is) try to jump it off or charge battery with a trickle charger and see if it spins and starts.

Good luck.

There seems to be some confusion about that.

Have you checked your radiator? Sounds like its clogged up and could use a cleaning.

Have you tried putting a battery charger on it to see if the battery isn’t low on charge?

It starts like it is sopose to now.and my tractor temperature gauge ain't right.onlt barely moves off cold mark.and only on the first mark when over heated.which temperature sensor works gauge.mine has two on it.one by thermostat housing.and one towards back of head.

curious am I .
I only see one temp sender, on the head ,at the back in the online drawings.
Maybe it'd defective or the gauge. usually you remove wire from sender, ground it and meter goes 'full scale'. WSM should have 'how to test sender'...so many ohms when hot and cold.
it'd be nice to know what the other one is and for !

Until you KNOW, if you use the tractor keep a nose out for 'high heat ' smell ! Also, check fan belt tension. If it's a little 'loose',pump won't pump coolant and engine can overheat, then big $$$$$ to fix.

I am still doubtful it actually overheated. The bubbling noise you heard when you first turned it off is not unusual on a machine with a coolant recovery tank.

I would certainly fix the temperature gauge so I could monitor the temperature

Use an infared thermometer to check the water temp coming into and going out of the radiator. Then you will know if it's overheating or not. Do this as you are using the machine so you're not guessing.
